married couples can't be compelled to testify against eachother

Joshua Gordon

Yes. If they get married, they also get legal protection.

Jim Alderman

Jimmy tells Walt (as Saul of course) that he was married and divorced twice, with his second wife being caught cheating on him with his step dad. Might have been bullshit, but I buy that Jimmy/Saul was married to Kim at some point. Also, Steven when you're talking at the end how Jimmy won just by dragging it out and threatening to keep dragging it out, that's pretty much how the vast majority of civil cases end up: they end in settlement because these kind of cases often take years in court, and very few people are willing or able to afford to keep paying their lawyers for that long. Even the threat of litigation is sometimes enough to force a settlement since it's so expensive to fight it out in court

Kim likes the bad boys. She loves Jimmy, he brings excitement into her life, the kind of excitement she thrives on. And as we saw in the flashback, she may be a bit of a codependent. So now she's put her foot down and doesn't want to live in the gray area anymore. Either end it now or ride/die with Jimmy forever. Plus there's the whole spousal immunity thing.

I tweeted about Rhea Seehorn and she liked it. I'm in heaven. :)

So, so good. Mike was completely on point, Saul was so sleazy, but what I'm looking forward to most is the revelation of whatever's is in Kim's past that's driving her to stick with JImmy. In most shows, this would just be an unbelievable switcheroo or plot armor, but I know the creators of BB and BCS don't make mistakes. I can't wait to find out, though I fear it will be tragic.

Jimmy did mention plausible deniability if Kim has to testify under oath, so being married further builds a wall to protect Kim.

I think after the meeting with Kevin and that final scene between Kim and Jimmy, this went from a pretty good episode to probably one of my favorites of the whole series. Wow.

Another cool cameo! Dect. Tim Roberts was the detective that dealt with Marie when she got caught stealing from open houses, then brought Hank the Gale case.

watched it, then watched it again with you guys, watched it again with normies, watching it again with demomorg :D we have an advantage over y'all :D

Some easter eggs: Detective Tim Roberts is the same policeman that wanted Hank’s help to solve the Gale case. He also helped Marie get out of trouble. I recall he also helped Skylar find Walt during his fugue state. Detective Roberts was also talking to someone on the phone about a possum. Remember Jesse back on the “Fly” episode talking about his aunt Ginny to Walt? Apparently, she had a possum living under her house and it seemed like whomever was calling was also talking about a dead body under their house. It definitely wasn’t aunt Ginny calling because Detective Roberts said “Yes sir, you have a good day...” at the end. Mike bought some books related to Jacques Cousteau, the explorer he talked about with Kaylee, so I’m sure he’ll try to read them to her to patch things up with her. When Mike was calling into the police radio about Lalo’s car, he says One-Victor-One-Five-Robert-Zebra (or 1V15RZ). Usually, that should have been One-Victor-One-Five-Romeo-Zulu. They changed the last two I’m guessing for Detective Roberts and for Ice Station Zebra.

I think that meeting in the conference room was Jimmy's "Heisenberg" moment. He enjoys the game too much.

Well, in that first episode Walter and Jesse are looking for a place to produce meth, and so Walter decides to take all of his money out of the bank to give it to Jesse to buy an RV. Okay here's where it gets interesting. Do you remember the name of the bank Walter took his money out from??... That's right, Mesa. Not Mesa Verde. Just Mesa: credit union. Oh, and a logo that has nothing to do with a horse or a cowboy. Now we're talking.

Olivia Bitsui is the name of Jeremiah Bitsui's daughter. Jeremiah Bitsui plays Victor.

Holy shit, Kim!. I did not see it going that way. I did not expect her to double down. Kim actually had me tearing up when she confronted Jimmy.

MICHAEL THOMPKINS

I feel like calling the New Mexico Bar Association and turning Jimmy in myself!!! That ASSHOLE!!!!!!!

Copied from Reddit (LONG, but worth the read to understand the ending): "In the wake of last night's explosive twist, I've seen a lot of people express incredulity towards Kim's marriage proposal. How could she double down on the relationship, after Jimmy exposed himself as an incorrigible con artist? How can she ignore the toxicity enveloping her entire being? Baffling as it all might seem, Kim's emotional journey boasts an uncanny sense of realism, to the point where I wonder if members of the writing staff have experienced similar ordeals. It's a strikingly accurate portrait of romantic addiction and intermittent reinforcement. Speaking as someone who was once engaged to a "Slipping Jimmy"-type figure, allow me to explain my perspective. If I could describe Kim with a single word, it would be "restless." She is a lawyer of lofty ideals and moral aspirations, caught in the drudgery of a callously pragmatic profession. Her strong (though increasingly flexible) sense of ethics probably stems from her abusive childhood, during which she developed internalized guilt to bridge the "moral gap" caused by neglect. Because of this clash between her wants and reality, and her unwillingness to examine her own trauma, she is perpetually dissatisfied with her present circumstances, unable to develop consistent self-esteem, and absolutely petrified of being abandoned. This makes her the perfect target for a volatile, compulsively dishonest partner like Jimmy. For those who've never found themselves in such a relationship, it would be easy to assume that Kim loves Jimmy DESPITE his untrustworthiness, DESPITE his duplicity, and therefore wonder why she won't draw a line. But those are EXACTLY why she's drawn to the relationship, which means her bond only INCREASES the more erratic Jimmy becomes. She craves that rush to distract from her discontent and allow herself to "let loose." Notice how she became "checked out" from the relationship in season 4, in the absence of any drama or high-stakes excitement. And notice how she only recommitted after they pulled off a successful con. She is dependent on the upswings and downswings that come from his wanton behavior, from the danger of their elaborate schemes. Not just emotionally: it's an actual chemical addiction. This brings me to the horrifying topic of "intermittent reinforcement." Put simply, relationships with INCONSISTENT positivity, with massive gulfs between highs and lows, actually foster a greater type of "connection" than healthy ones, due to the massive chemical spikes that accompany the "good times." Her disappointments with Jimmy, her constant anxiety over what he might do, only means that the euphoria of their later triumphs will resonate all the more intensely. If she knew if/when they would come, they would be predictable, and therefore comparatively dulled. He is her opioid. He is her drug. That's why my interpretation of last night's final scene differs from much of what I've been reading. I don't think her 180 degree turn towards marriage was simple stubbornness, of which Kim has plenty. I think she emotionally plummeted after Jimmy betrayed her, and then emotionally skyrocketed when Kevin actually agreed to his terms. While she wouldn't have consciously admitted it, his inexcusable actions sated her addiction, thus reinforcing her commitment. Maybe I'm projecting somewhat, but this is how I've interpreted everything. If you were perplexed by Kim's behavior, and considered it a flaw on the writers' part, hopefully this provides a plausible account."

For me it just boils down to her being codependent. She was raised by an alcoholic and while she may have stood up to her (and yet still had to go home to her), she can't stand up to Jimmy in the same way. She feeds off him to find excitement in her life. It's not healthy but I think it's who she is.
