I personally think this episode is one of their best. It’s heavy for sure, and in that they managed such a relatable and heartbreaking story. I still remember the first time I saw it and I cried quite a bit. Had a big discussion with my friend afterward as well (which I think is essential and a great opportunity with this show). It made me think of my ex, actually, who I still miss very much. It made me think of how tempting it would be to sign up for something like that. Even if you told yourself it’s just for the time being, just to help with the transition. I can only speak on my behalf, but if I had been in her position, I’d have become immersed as well. It’s just so tragic all around. I also felt like it tied into remaining hung up on a relationship (for lack of a better term) - any relationship. If you lose someone, whether it’s through death, a break up, whatever....many (myself included) can take years to move on. And how could someone ever move on with this in their life? You’d never be able to live in a healthy manner. Mourning someone is part of nature - and this episode displayed beautifully how that could, in a bittersweet way, impact you forever.
