I thought that the scene in the willow world was one of the most sensual TV acting I have ever seen, with nothing but words being spoken. I believe the Kiku knows how the feel about each other and positioned herself like that so they can share that moment. It was beautiful.

Shogun, the title of warlord was a title that had to come from both the Emperor and you had to be a descendant from two specific families. The character Toranaga is based on the real Tokugawa Ieyasu who after a hundred years of war gained enough strength and support to become the first Shogun of the Tokugawa era. Mariko’s character, though of a very high and old samurai family would not be able to claim the title as she was not part of the Minowara (Minamoto in real life) family tree. Toranaga is mentioned several times now by others as “his blood” is a threat to others because of his Minowara heritage. Again he says he does not want the title but others want him to claim his family right. This will come more into play in a bit. Mariko has a big destiny coming.

The actor Anna Sawai is able to show all the emotions exuding from Mariko, even though Mariko has emotional control. Now that's acting at it's finest. I laugh every time John groans when he is trying to understand, but really doesn't. lol

oh man!, getting close to the end, don't think you guys are ready for whats to come!, I certainly wasn't! such a great show, its moved into my top five of all time.
