I’ve had short hair for the majority of the last decade and a half and yeah, I just personally don’t think it suited her. But the fandom rage was quite ridiculous. Especially considering the time and how short hair on a woman that young wasn’t as nearly as aesthetically acceptable as it is today. I feel like they didn’t quite know how to handle Julie as a character after the breakup and her discovery of Felicity and Ben.. her involvement/relationship with everyone became a bit lackluster for me.. but I’m glad they’ve moved forward with it.

One thing I do like about Felicity and Julie’s on/off friendship is that especially in this episode, they make it fairly clear that neither of the is very experienced with true friendships or deep romantic relationships ... less experienced than most people their age. That’s a big part of their problem.
