Another great foundational episode. We get to see again how much Richard loves Rory, shown by how timid he was apologizing to her. Most importantly I think is the stuff between Lorelei and Emily. It’s funny because Lorelei told Emily she doesn’t think her words have an effect on her, but they do. But the same can be said for Lorelei’s words and actions, which have a real impact on Emily. She obviously has a lot of emotional baggage of her own, which Lorelei barely understands. So while Emily was very childish about how she learned of the engagement, I can understand how she, specifically feels whenever she thinks she’s left out or forgotten. It devastates her. Emily is hard to love a lot of the time, but she’s not a one-dimensional villain character at all.

Also, I wanted to mention how I enjoy the fact that Madeline and Louise can’t help themselves from liking Rory, even though they are “supposed” to be snubbing her out of loyalty to Paris.
