I think Sydney invited Will because she assumed he was upset with her for cancelling their plans, when Will was actually just experiencing extreme WTF at the moment. Will and Francie frequently complain about Sydney bailing on them, and it's always "bank"-related. I don’t think Sydney would bring anyone into Sloane’s orbit, but our Sydney makes emotional decisions. That’s why we love her — she’s so human. But now Will’s storyline is intersecting more with Sydney’s. Jack himself abducted, assaulted, and terrorized Will to save him. (Just as a side note, in “The Box,” Jack told Sydney that Sloane would not hesitate to kill anyone she cares about: “Your roommate, Francie, and…that reporter friend of yours.” Slick, Jack, as if you don’t know exactly who Will Tippin is. And now Will has spent an entire evening with Jack *and* Sloane. The looks being given in this episode killed me. Will greets Sloane with, “Hey.” Sloane replies, “Hey. Nice to meet you.” You’re in a fancy mansion meeting Sydney’s fancy boss, and you say, “Hey.” Makes me laugh every time. Van’s reaction made me laugh harder. Everyone loves an awkward dinner party, but an analogy dinner party filled with awkwardness and genuine dread and tension? Yes, please. Sloane’s face when his beloved Emily is basically calling *him* evil and a monster without knowing that she is: priceless.

Good for Jenny. I like Jenny, and I love Will, but Will never should have been dating his assistant, and he shouldn’t be dating a 20-yr old even if she is more mature that he is. I also feel really bad for David McNeil, whose wife was murdered, then he’s been wrongly incarcerated for eight years and spent his last bit of money to get his daughter to safety…all for nothing. I also feel really bad for Emily. She seems genuinely kind, and she’s dying of cancer, so I was a bit surprised at Vaughn’s callous attitude about Sydney’s objection to using her friend. Vaughn can be coldly pragmatic like Jack at times. Then with the reveal of Page 47, it feels like the show pulled a magic trick on us. Like, aha, you thought Sydney was working to bring down SD-6 because of Danny and her own sense of betrayal, but now Sydney is a major part of this Rambaldi craziness that has everyone, including the CIA, racing to around the world trying to figure it out first. As a first-time viewer, that drawing blew my mind. Oh, and Van, you are correct that Alain Christophe has been mentioned before. Sloane phoned him at the end of "Reckoning" to report that SD-6 may have a mole. All we knew was that Sloane reports to him, but Will did some impressive investigative work.
