Hello everyone! ASR sent me her watch order and a viewer sent me a watch order from Slayalive.

http://slayalive.com/showthread.php/3924-The-Buffy-Angel-watching-guide?p=126103#post126103

The viewer also said that it would be nice to see different watch orders from different reactors. I'm pretty torn between which one would make the majority happy?? Please tell me your thoughts.

I don’t think it matters that much. Regardless of what you choose, some people will be unhappy. However, most watch orders don’t contain spoilers, so, as I said, it doesn’t really matter.

The alternative one isn't horrible, but it deviates too much from airing order for my taste. I know there's some disagreement about this, but I like switching back and forth between the two shows fairly often and don't like the viewing orders that attempt to minimize that. So of the two, I'd definitely favor the ASR one. Like I said though, nothing in the alternative one stands out as absolutely wrong to me. I do wish it didn't tell you where the crossovers are though...

I think the ASR order is probably the best, much for the reasons Thomas said above. You'll be fine either way though. A lot of great stuff is coming up!

Slayalive's watch order looks pretty solid, skimming through it I can say that it has all the crossover eps in the right places (including the B5/A2 crossover which most fan viewing orders insist on putting in the spoilerrific order for some reason...). I say go with Slayalive's if you want to do something different from ASR to set you apart - beyond your reaction style, that is (which I vastly prefer to ASR's)... yes, I said it, sorry ASR fans! =P

Shan at ASR has done such an amazing job intertwining and getting the order right so I’d maybe go with her list but the other list isn’t terrible either, there’s a few placements I’d change personally but it’s ultimately up to you beaut 😊

The watch order you got from After Show Reactions is the better choice 👍

Kristin Carter

ASR's order is more similar to the Watcher's Council, so I say go with that one

I prefer the Slayalive order, the ASR one makes less sense to me. I also think watching a reactor follow a different order will be more interesting :)

I really don't like how ASR separated several of the eps in seasons 5 and 2, so I say go for the Slayalive order, it's more coherent. But it only really matters for the crossovers, so you can use it and tweak the rest as you go ;)

Dipper

Either order is fine. ASR's list was specifically tailored based on the fact that she watches them in clumps of four, to make sure the stopping points were particularly suspenseful or lighthearted (depending on how nice or mean I was feeling, muahahah). Since you don't watch in clumps of four, her order doesn't necessarily make the most sense for you. Of course, that doesn't make it a BAD order, though. ;)

".... beyond your reaction style, that is (which I vastly prefer to ASR's)... yes, I said it, sorry ASR fans!" -- Well, I love them both, so I'm not bothered if you like one more than the other. :P

It's nice to see so many people expressing flexibility. Me personally? I can stick my leg behind my head. So there.

That's a good point, that order was better for ASR but Van might find that other more traditional list more convenient. I think it suits her channel better.

Switching back and forth too often isn't very enjoyable for the later seasons, since they are a lot more serialized. I appreciate how the Slayalive guide put together the mini arcs in 3-4 eps. But everyone has their preference :)

Honestly, it really doesn’t matter too much. The main thing with the first 2 seasons for angel is to get the buffy and angel timelines synced up for the few crossover episodes back and forth... otherwise, its personal preference. I actually really like the look of the slayalive order! It looks a really good setup. When the show aired it was one buffy, one angel, over and over... i prefer the viewing orders where you can get engrossed with a few episodes of one show before switching. Especially if some key story is carrying over episode to episode, or there’s a good cliffhanger or something. Would be nice to see a different order to ASR whose was tailored based on her schedule setup, but its up to you with what you think is best xxx

Richard Lucas

I kind of like one Buffy, one angel since that’s the way we saw it back when it premiered, but am open to anything. It’s why I hate so much when people let slip there is an Angel series before the end of season 3, because it really is a huge spoiler for seasons 2 and 3. I hope and pray no other new reactor gets spoiled like that by over anxious fans.

Bisibia

I think you should do the Slayalive one just because... why not? It's different. It'll be interesting to see a different order than the one most of us are already watching.

After Show Reactions

I don't know why the viewer said it would be nice to see a different watch order lol. You should watch in the order that makes the most sense story-wise and that, is the order I provided. You'd want to watch for the best experience, idk "watch orders different from different reactors" just sounds wrong to me idk up to you tho i guess

After Show Reactions

Also I dont think its a good idea to even look at watch orders as they'll spoil crossovers lol

Einar Sigurðsson

ASR for sure. The other one has a very weird setup I do not agree with personally. But I will still watch your reactions if you do that one :D

I’m looking at the official watch guide from Entertainment Weekly’s binge guide that came out a few years ago. I’ve watched it this way before and I prefer the guide that they made for ASR. Basically the official guide goes back and forth way way more often, and personally, I prefer to watch them more in blocks.. it’s much more enjoyable to me. The ASR guide has all same necessary orders of watching (except on this official guide it’s Darla before Fool for Love- a perennial Buffy fan debate) in terms of crossover, and as long as that happens, you’re able to deviate. <3

I disagree, like Dipper said, your viewing order is good for the way you watch and upload, but story-wise it's not always the best, the slayalive one is more traditional but focuses on the story, yours focuses more on emotional balance. They're different ways to look at it.

Go for the one on Slayalive, the blocks of episodes seem to make more sense (ASR had a few odd ones and is more designed for her schedule). And I think it switches back and forth just the right amount of times, it'll get annoying for you if it does it too often.

Anonymous

Yeah, also I think the slayalive post seems better to get into Angel, which can be difficult for some people at first.

Anonymous

And what will make the majority happy is to see you enjoy watching both shows, which I'm sure you will, so don't worry about the order too much, as long as you get the cross-overs right :)

Hi Van. I made the guide from Slayalive, and just to clarify, I designed it for first time watchers (it works for a rewatch as well), and it would work well for reaction videos. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any. I really enjoy your videos ^^

UTU49

Other upsides to ASR's order. Firstly: It was made by more than one person consulting with each other. Secondly: If you want to, you'll be able to directly ask them questions about the order.
