About My Future With Patreon. (Patreon)

Hey guys.

I was going to make this a full State of Something Address, as I have a lot on my mind regarding the future of this page and how it's time to evolve it due to its growth.

But all of that has to be put on pause because there's something a bit more important: Patreon, how it's changing, and what this will mean for me and the future.

As I'm sure most of you are aware by now, in one form or another, the service is changing how it handles itself in regards to adult content. Already a few NSFW creators have jumped ship thanks to policies that allow Patreon to police platforms that they don't even own and tell you what you can and can't do on there. So they can see what you post on Twitter and scold you. That's...not okay. Quite honestly, I'm pretty sure it's highly illegal. Or it should be.

But we've been through this song and dance before, with Tumblr basically sweeping this kind of content under the door and pretending they've always been offended by "female presenting nipples". In my head, this idea of rejecting porn, sex, the stuff we make babies with, baffles me. There's proof out there in the world that people are willing to pay for this form of entertainment, and yet they don't want to jump on that because of Puritanical beliefs...but I feel I'm going to go a bit overboard if I stay on that for too long.

The point is, it's going to be time to move on again soon. Much like what happened to Tumblr, a lot of adult content creators are moving onto other pastures. I've seen some like Subscribestar, the Pixiv Fanbox, and I definitely remember sometime last year trying to set up on another page, but for the life of me...I forget what the name of that site was.

Right now, I'm testing both Subscribestar and Fanbox to see which one works best for the move off Patreon. While SS has a similar setup compared to here, there's still some things I don't like about it. They at least offer the chance to create goals like Patreon as well, which is something I've yet to find in trying to figure out Pixiv and its platform. Fanbox isn't too much better, but they allow for Paypal support, which SS doesn't. And the more I think about it, the more I realize it may be the better option, as the money that comes from your support is what I use to pay for the VAs for the monthly audios. I might put it to a vote to see who's more comfortable with what.

Speaking of which, I need to find a way to do polls since neither site seems to offer them...

And I know, I'm acting pretty wishy-washy about which site to move to, but this is definitely one of the tougher choices regarding leaving Patreon. It has to be done, because sooner or later all of us adult content creators are going to get caught in the deep of things.

What I can tell you is that I know that's not exactly a long time away, but I'll be done with Patreon by September. I feel as though that should be more than enough time to give everyone the chance to move over there. Especially since I've been seeing other writers get affected by the matter. It's obviously still a bit more fresh, and hopefully by August or something I can find myself in the groove of posting on these platforms. Once everyone has moved over to the new platform, I'll stop posting over on Patreon entirely.

For those worried about the word bank, I've been keeping track of it all over the last year. Everything is still set on there, but I'll likely have to change it so that there's a limit on how many words people can use at once. Everything will carry over when you move over to the other platform.

To be honest, I'm still worried about making this move, and writing this post, because of how much growth has occurred in the last year. I owe a lot of that to ImJustThatKinky and Doujins.com for promoting my audio efforts, and I know a lot of you wouldn't be here without that. I'm concerned about having to go through that again, because I have no idea how many people will be moving over. But I do hope whichever platform I jump on, you'll all join me there.

So to reiterate; remember that the start of September will be the last day to move over from Patreon, because after the first or everyone here moves over there, I'll stop posting here completely. Goals such as monthly audio and public access to them must be met in order for them to continue.  Also, keep in mind you can find any updates on my Twitter, @HeroicFizzer, in case anything else happens.

Thank you all for understanding. I hope that you all make the jump with me, as I can't do this without you. Writing has been my life goal, and I hope soon enough that it can be my full-time job. That's still a long ways off, but hopefully all of us and other adult content creators can manage to survive this move off the platform.
