Demon Lord is a title, True Demon Lord is the actual evolution. Popo - Slime deviates pretty heavily from the web novel (in a good way) the further you get into the story

The Rim moments are so adorable and wholesome.

as a child , when u deal with trauma...it can result in really dangerous mindset....and remember after the fact....he had no help..he was alone in the streets for quite some time...pondering about what he did.... its more nuanced than that

(Post - 4) Also, just to add, the anime didn’t show it in the beginning but Shigaraki played video games with Spinner earlier since they both like video games. Notice how, in this episode, kid Shigaraki would want to play with the kids that were “left out”, and how he has a connection with the most of the league who are also like outcasts. Like Spinner, Twice, and Toga. I recommend reading the first chapter or 2 of this arc in the manga (starts halfway through Ch. 219 and all of 220) and rewatching this episode.

(Post - 1) This’ll be a bit long but bear with me So when Shigaraki had that constant itch as a child, that was because of his quirk. Remember how Redestro said quirks can have an effect on one's personality. Combine Shiggy's built up frustration towards his family with a quirk that seeks to destroy. Notice how he said he didn't itch anymore after killing his father. That itch to destroy was gone. Also, psychological abuse exists, being punished/not being allowed to eat for having a dream of wanting to become a hero is shitty. It wasn't just "discipline" or "tough love". Even if it was coming from a place that wanted to protect his family/ son, the father was being selfish and was forcing his ideals upon the family despite what dreams they may have. Him being abandoned by Nana sucks, and he didn't really deserve to die. But he kinda had it coming to him when he was basically being a dictator over his son's feelings about heroism.

(Post - 2) There was also frustration towards the rest of the family because all they did was sit back and watch it, the mom & in-laws comforted him, but continually let the situation happened, and it festered. Only now, finally stepping up a little after it took his father slapping him. Shigaraki was more of a victim of his quirk, and that justifiable frustration he held towards his family only served to accelerate the manifestation of his destructive quirk. He felt like a prisoner a in his home, like he couldn't be free with his thoughts and feelings, and he views hero society as it's own prison of "complacent" sheep that didn't have a care in the world because of All Might, and that people were continuing to be "complacent" with all of societies problems because of All Might.

(Post - 3) Just like how the rest of his family was "complacent" in letting the problems with his dad occur. Cause they were in a comfortable spot right now with his father, being wealthy, and having built a nice house that they could live in. They accepted comfort over acknowledging and facing the problems at hand. In the end, Shigaraki destroyed his home, and he basically see's the hero society as a bigger version of his home. Combine that with quirks affecting personality, and some unknown details of how exactly All for One raised him (which we'll probably get next episode, it's another origin episode), and you have a villain who wants to destroy hero society and everything else in his path.
