Jouten, that wonderful area of skin between the thigh-high and the skirt is called "zettai ryouiki" or "absolute territory"... and yes, the term originates from NGE. If you want to vary things up from the thigh-high/skirt combo, I recommend thigh-highs with hotpants, which also counts. Personally I really enjoyed this anime. I still wouldn't call it one of my top favorites. I wouldn't call it mind-blowing or extraordinary. But it was really enjoyable to watch, and it does get pretty hype later in the series. Plus there's the waifus, ofc. Also there are some great ecchi scenes later on.... hehe.
