This is completely true!  I know I always say that, and if anybody knows this, it's the people who subscribe to a club based on Penny Arcade.  But!  This is even truer than usual.  That is to say, it's double true.  When he grabbed his copy, that was still at the initial grim wave of glitch compilations and commentary. Then he lost his mind!  I'll be shocked if he ever gets back to God of War.  I just don't see it happening.  Not unless Santa Monica Studio adds monster collection.

As far as why they don't fix it, there's a couple things I guess.  It's possible that, given how prevalent the rumors were a couple years ago, in a world not ravaged by disease where powerful chips were plentiful, we might have seen a new version of the Switch by now that would smooth over these kinds of issues.  As the recent owner of a Steam Deck, it certainly hints at just how fancy that experience could be.  But Nintendo doesn't do that kind of fancy.  That's why when their erstwhile competitors were having trouble even making systems, the Switch has sold ninety one million systems and the price hasn't really changed that much.  Maybe there's something incremental they could do.  But I suspect the main thing is that they sold ten million copies of the series in three days.  If you make a half a billion and change doing something maybe you don't change it so much, even if the occasional bridge materializes out of thin air.  In the end I think it's a little from column A and a little from Column B, but the B is in a much, much larger font.

Hey!  I might see you this weekend.  Ryan and the rest of the team have put together a really solid show this year, and I'm gonna go pack for it.

I mean, if they can keep printing money, why wouldn't they? I always felt Nintendo was all about building something good (maybe not perfect) and riding that out all the way to the long tail at the end. Meanwhile others are trying to pound out yearly releases like that jacked up exec in Die Hard. That said, history is littered with companies that kept going straight when the rest of the world took the last turn. At some point, the strategy might fail them. Or maybe the suckers took the last turn and Nintendo knows where to go? :)
