I think that they have changed these tooth dominators since I had them, because he isn't really complaining about their fit or strain on the human tooth.  My daughter also had them, and she wasn't really any worse for wear, aside from the fact that it placed those Kraft caramel cubes beyond her reach.  When I had braces, I can recall distinctly opening up my locker in seventh grade and putting my head inside it to sob.  I thought this was a smooth move but I don't think it masked any aspect of the anguish and was probably weirder than it would have been otherwise.

The first poem in Lexcalibur II was also the first one I wrote for the book.  Things get remixed further into the volume - there are three poems that tell a little story, for example, and I wanted them peppered around the volume so it seemed like they were looking for each other.  Just like in Lexcalibur, I sort of want the book to feel like it is talking to you - and so I wanted something that placed the book itself in kind of a heroic context, that it goes out and gets these poems from the world and brings them back.  Here's "Fore-words", which I might have read aloud:

Be careful where you keep this book,

For it's been known to wander;

It strides with zeal

Through battle-fields,

Through hill,

And dale,

And yonder,

And should it slip

Your careful grip,

To trek where it is fonder,

Soon you'll find

The rhyming lines

Of fresh new poems

To ponder.

There's another one that is sort of a sequel to Girl-At-Arms from the first book, written for my daughter Ronia, who was keenly interested in the next part.  It is called Young Ladies:

Young Ladies

Young ladies can never be found in the home;

Such ladies are given to roam.

Every young lady is, as we all know,

armored from crown down to toe.

Young ladies, they do wield a sword, or a wand;

Though bows are not frowned upon.

When tyrants and dragons know ladies are near,

The white of their bones fills with fear.

Just know:

when young ladies

decide something is wrong,

It'll be right before long.

I loved ‘Girl-At-Arms’ before and I am glad we have ‘Young Ladies’ in LexDos!

Man that Loop Hero demo. The sheer palpable joy I felt when (during a fantastic Loop where I accidentally filled the world progress meter) I learned you can escape with 100% of your goods despite still being 1 tile AWAY from camp? Incredible relief.

For anyone else who started hyperventilating because of the title of this post, I've checked extensively and am pretty sure that there was no Newsletter #83. (If this suddenly becomes #83, uh... cool?)

Girl-At-Arms is my fav from the first book and the reason I bought it for my friend with a 3 year-old daughter. :)
