A problem has emerged regarding the upcoming poll. In short, there were a lot more submissions for this poll than I had anticipated, and patreon itself has a hard limit of 25 entries per poll. In other words, it is literally impossible to make a single poll that has more than 25 entries here on patreon.

The conclusion is inevitable: I'm forced to split the poll into 2 or more simultaneous polls to accommodate for all of the entries. But this opens an entirely new set of problems: how exactly do I go about dividing the entries between each poll?

After struggling with with this issue for a long time, it seems like there is no perfect solution no matter what I do, and it is giving me a headache lol.

So after some thought I've decided on a fun tournament format with 2 stages.

On the 1st stage, there will be 4 simultaneous polls (or groups). Then the top 2 most voted of each group will advance into a final, singular poll containing these 8 finalist entries. Then this solo final poll (stage 2) will run and the top 3 most voted there are the final winners.

The catch? Each poll/group is arranged by a fetish/tag theme. This has two positive benefits:

1) Ensures that people who have a preference for a particular fetish/tag will focus their attention on at least one specific poll during the groups stage.

2) It enforces some variety in fetishes being most voted, because it is guaranteed that only two of each group can advance into the final poll, where 3 will win.

The groups are as follows:

Group A -> Vore and Absorption
Group B -> Transformation
Group C -> Lesbian and Futanari Sex
Group D - > Male and Monster/Creature Sex

I've come up with these groupings based on the criteria of overall popularity among fans of MKM, with group A being the most popular, then B and so on. Yes you heard that right, vore is a super niche fetish, but around here it is the most popular.

Therefore with that said, those who are familiar with sport terms will then recognize Group A as being a "group of death" because it is the most competitive given the number of entries submitted.

And so entries were placed in order of highest priority starting from group A and going down, if they fit the criteria of the fetish.

Example:
-> "Futanari character that has sex with Maya and then vores her". Placed on group C? Nope. She goes on group A because her scene has vore so it overrides due to the priority of popularity.
-> "Male or creature character has sex with Maya" goes on group D. But if the sex also transforms Maya? Then instead it goes on group B. Etc etc.

That's about it. This isn't a perfect solution and honestly I wish I could clone myself 30 times with each clone implementing every single submission into the game. But if I'm forced to divide the poll then at least I hope to make it interesting and give the less popular categories a fighting chance. But given the amount of good entries, I'm sure that you'll find some that you enjoy even if your own isn't able to make it.

Best Regards,
Mega

"Around here, vore is the most popular." Was there a poll for this? Because I'd like a do-over

Wow, that really is quite a few entries. Well on one hand that is a lot to handle for polls, but on the other, it shows how much people like the game to submit enemy ideas. But yeah, this poll tournament sounds like a really neat idea to get all the entries to a manageable state. I'm all for it. Would the entire thing be as long as a regular poll phase? Or is it gonna be slightly longer?

I think that because it is such a niche idea that when someone is willing to add it to a game they leap at the chance to see it more. The most I have seen from the vore category in games are usually the RPG ones, which is to say that is not a bad thing at all, but there are only a handful of ones that let you see the action (like Milia/Echidna Wars) from what I have seen. The tournament thing is a very nice idea, it looks like it will be a very entertaining thing to see. I am looking forward to it.

Makes sense with this being the last poll, and the fact that multiple entries would be accepted, more people mustered up the courage to submit an idea.

Very excited for the polls to open. Question, does the voting power from the $20 tier translate over between rounds?

MegaBlueBall

Hehe this is based on my own interactions with the supporters, as well as the results of the 13 polls that when I started the patreon for MKM at the beginning of 2020. You can go down that rabbit role by browsing the posts here that are categorized with the tag "poll results" and you'll be able to confirm that indeed, vore entries were strong every round.

MegaBlueBall

You wanna know the kicker? Much more than half of eligible supporters didn't even submit an entry. Can you imagine if hypothetically every single one did? heh that would be fun You got that right, because part of the conundrum was that I want to keep polls "contained" in a single month (for various reasons), therefore yes the entire thing has to be completed by the end of the month (so the 31th), therefore yeah essentially each stage will have to take half the time of what the usual period that a single poll would take.

MegaBlueBall

That is true. I mean, vore is one of my main fetishes and exactly as you said, I also want to see more of it in other games so this desire pushed me to add a lot of it in my own games, which in turn attracts a big audience that shares my preferences and is craving for that niche content. And yes Milia Wars is a big inspiration to me and I wish I could make pixel art of that quality haha.

MegaBlueBall

Yes, every single vote power will be applied as normal for all polls, in all stages.

MegaBlueBall

Indeed. But hopefully this isn't the last poll; yes they require a surprising amount of administrative work (which in turn eats directly into my normal game dev time), but I like running them so I will try to run at least a few more if possible, albeit sporadically.

I'm practically new to PATREON, so I'm asking... will you send me a message with the voting link when they start? or have they already started?

MegaBlueBall

The polls will open in a few hours. They will be appear here as usual posts on my page, therefore you should receive an email notification when I post them.

As I mentioned in the post, the ideal scenario would be for patreon itself to do this for me automatically, and reflect the VP on the results. But as of now they are still working on this feature. So what I have to do is: when the poll ends, patreon allows me to generate a spreadsheet that contains who voted on what. I download it and also download a spreadsheet that contains all active supporters who voted and which tier they hold this month. With both spreadsheet in hand, I already have a macro set up that simply correlates the information and multiplies each vote by the respective VP, spitting out a final tally with those update values.
