The forest boss can shoot her pheromones directly at Maya when she is fainted, and this will lead her towards the boss's position.

But for fun I began messing with this feature and let the boss toy around a bit with Maya and there's some interesting outcomes like making Maya do laps around the area, or lead her into other enemies, etc.

So while originally I created this feature to fit the winning patron's suggestion for the boss fight, perhaps I could also use it elsewhere in the game, specially when more enemy types are added to the game and when I flesh out the ero system more, as it could result in some interesting situations.

Is that border something that appears when you lose to a boss? Or just this boss? Or is it something that appears when you get spored?

The border appears whenever Maya is fainted (loses all health), so not necessarily tied to any enemy or event. It's a way to differentiate the normal gameplay state against the fainted state, but it also ties in the general art/story direction that I want to take the game to.
