Jojo is a breakup song, but you wouldn't guess it without the lyrics, it's so upbeat. It's from the same album as Ring ding dong that came out in 2009.

In Girls Girls Girls the SHINee members are acting out the characters people often think they are, it's hilarious.

SHINee is a group that is VERY hard to do a guide to, for 2 reasons, one is that they have a HUGE history and they've played an enormous role in shaping K-pop, so trying to convince all of that to a guide is very impossible, and two, the entire group is made out of workaholics who have more hours in a day than the rest of us, by the time the guide is uploaded to YouTube it's already out dated. Saying all that, this is the most comprehensive and up-to-date guide, it's still EXTREMELY outdated (it became outdated 2 days after it was posted..) but it really is the best we have... https://youtu.be/LiYLVmCqazg?si=opE6KfY_Lff7ZRiO

I get where you're coming from but SHINee are not underrated, at this point they are legends of K-pop and practically everyone in Korea knows them. If you stopped a random Korean on the street I bet most of them will know of SHINee (even the ones that are not into K-pop themselves). To the contrary, while a lot of the newer groups might have bigger fandoms and more online presence, an average person who's not into K-pop would likely haven't heard of them. Most of these groups also don't have nearly as much influence and reputation as SHINee, particularly in Korea. If you watched their Hangout With Yoo festival appearance this year you'd see that they announced SHINee as ''all time legends'' so it's not just some self-proclaimed or fan-made title but a general consensus. They're one of the biggest Korean acts in Japan too. SM just never invested as much money into them as into some of their other groups nor promoted them outside of Asia. But their raw talents, hard work and dedication has resulted in much succeses and longevity. Many groups don't survive 7 years, hence there's such thing as the ''7 year curse'' when groups struggle to overcome this period and often result in members leaving, going into an indefinite hiatus or just disbanding because that's the default contract length that most rookies sign (or used to sign) when they debut. Therefore, It's a remarkable achievement in and of itself to even exist in this oversaturated industry for 16 years, let alone retain as much relevancy and popularity as SHINee both collectively and individually. It's something that very few can boast. Taemin's solo career (10 years) is longer than that of most groups lol. As for the guide, I second Ofra's recommendation, it's over an hour long so maybe you'll be able to squeeze it into one video, if not you might have to split it into two parts. Looking forward to it!

as always, I enjoyed watching this reaction! JoJo doesn't really mean anything, it's just the name of the person SHINee is singing to. although this performance is from their 2015 concert, the song itself was actually released on their 2009 EP, Y.O.U (Year Of Us) the same album Ring Ding Dong is from. but beyond that, it's a breakup song that describes the person's regrets and desperation wanting 'JoJo' to come back. what's funny, as you've pointed out, is that despite the melancholic lyrics the members are very happy and upbeat performing. I think that's just because of their love for performing and being happy to sing an old song of theirs in front of shawols again after a long time. during the promotion cycle for this era (December 2009 to January 2010) they sang this song as the promoted bside (RDD was the title track) and even during those days they'd be all smiley and happy go lucky singing lol. but that might've been more due to how young they all were at the time (16-20) and so maybe they found it awkward to be sad especially in contrast with the amount of seriousness they had when performing RDD lol. you're right, this song does have a 70s/80s inspired sound! something that I feel is very unique to SHINee (and part of why they're my favourite kpop group ever) is that they have a looot of retro inspired songs and have been doing that since the start of their careers. you might read that and think nothing much of it, but it's actually much less common for kpop boy groups to have as many retro influenced songs as SHINee do. and if you were there in 2020 during The Great Retropocalypse, you'll know at that point it became very trendy and in style to do retro songs (although that was more 80s inspired specifically). so, yeah. basically SHINee being ahead of their time once again. once again, SHINee showing they're not just incredible singers but very witty and funny performers too! the concept of this performance was them basically guiding Taemin on how to impress/get the attention of the girl they like - Onew with this voice, Key with his sense of fashion, Jonghyun with his sensitivity (fun fact, the part where he's holding up paper and Key put his slippers on Jjong's ears pretending they're headphones is actually referencing Jonghyun's radio show he ran from 2014 to 2017, Blue Night. he even released a solo album based on his listeners' stories they'd send in!) and Minho just by, well, standing there. he doesn't need to do anything when he looks like that lol (this could be said for all of them though, honestly) as for what SHINee guide to check out I'd recommend "Deep Dive into SHINee - Get to Know The Princes of K-Pop" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiYLVmCqazg .I'd also love for you guys to react to their albums Misconceptions of Us (2013, the album Girlsx3 is from) and The SHINee World (2008)! both are incredible.

I'm always enjoying it. Can you review Jonghyun's song at the end of the day, and diphylleia grayi? It's a day that I think of him more.
