One of the hunters wondered. The group of four were stalking a young dragoness for weeks, the ritual was only two weeks away, and they needed the right sacrifice.

They had managed to drive her close to the underground temple, so they wouldn't have to transport an unconscious dragon for too long.

They watched her rest on a cliff in the distance.

“Fifteen bolts and she’s still twitching,” one of the hunters complained, exhausted. Another rested his crossbow over his shoulder. “Strong, by the looks of it, healthy, a perfect gift. Quick signal the wagon so we can get her to the cultists before nightfall”

She slowly regained consciousness, trying to move her aching muscles from the crash, she was unsure how long ago it was. Panic arose in her slowly as she realised she was tied, trying to struggle, she didn’t notice the people around her chanting.

The incense and candles were making her head spin, combined with chanting she relaxed a bit, noticing resistance was futile she wondered why her tail was tied aside. Looking around, only light was from candles and some small windows in the roof and a distant door behind her.

The chanting became rhythmic “Bring forth The Beast! Bring forth The Beast!” The chanting increased its pace, she looked around worried until she heard a low growl behind her.

From the incense smoke she saw a blue light, a few moments later she noticed a face, a large creature was approaching her from behind, the Beast was grinning being led by the worshippers.

Faint blue light was emanating from the shadowy doorway. Its steps were large and calm but made the ground quake as he stepped towards her. Blue sharp eyes coming into sight, eyeing her, watching for his price.

She noticed what hung behind his hind legs, and a wave of sudden realization ran throughout her body on what was about to happen, her pose, being tied down and tail out of the way. She tried to scream but the smoke choked her voice. She trashed about but her binds seemed to get tighter, struggling against the ropes.
