A Star Wars themed commission I drew recently!
Character: Nerva Min, Wandering Mercenary, Runaway Noble, and Force Adept
The Min family of Anaxes has a long and prestigious history within the Republic, and have long considered themselves to be one of the great pillars of civilization akin to the Jedi Order, the royal families of Alderaan, or the galactic Senate. Look into the historical archives, find any galactic conflict and you will find mentions of the Mins, serving as everything from junior officers to fleet commanders to politicians. Indisputably, they are part of the Core’s elite and expect every child to leave their mark on the history books.
The Mins credit their elevated status to several things. Within the family itself, they pride themselves on their military discipline, and most notably their spiritual practices that are vaguely reminiscent of Jedi teachings. While partially true, the rumors of latent Force sensitivity within the Min bloodline are generally exaggerated and actual Force wielders are reasonably rare.
Although it is true that there have been a few Jedi over the years that carry the name Min, the family is rarely on good terms with the council. Partially due to diverging philosophies, but mostly due to what the aristocrats consider to be an inquisitorial overreach by the Jedi, contrasted against the fabled reliquary of the Min palace.
One such instance was the Ruusan Reformation, where the Mins were strong advocates for the disarming of the Jedi, and bringing the order under proper Republic control. There have also been a few other notable instances of rogue Jedi or would be Sith, where the aristocrats have laid claim to their relics and texts.
The latest controversial issue was that of Nerva Min, who manifested her Force talents relatively late in her life. Although it has been suggested that she had kept them hidden, either on her own initiative or on her mothers' insistence. As a rising star in the navy, she was expected to be given the command of her own cruiser when the Jedi interfered and blocked her promotion.
While many viewed their reasoning as sound, when they argued that the horrors of war could break the young officer and result in disaster, their actions ended up causing the very thing they feared. This she took as a betrayal by the republic and resigned her commission in protest. Soon after she disappeared into the fringe and took up the life of a wandering mercenary. All the while collecting a small database of historical sites and antiques, trying to find a purpose in life.
What do you think? :)
