Another fun commission!

Character: Sir Reynault de Lyons, Human Paladin; and Clarity, Tiefling Divination Wizard

Sir Reynault de Lyons is the grandson of a famous knight, who he has idolized since he was a boy. He joined the army, enlisting as a captain due to his noble birth. He served well and with honor, until his general ordered him to assault and capture an orc stronghold.

Casualties were heavy on both sides, but Reynault and his company succeeded in taking the fort. It was then that Reynault’s general congratulated him, and revealed that the real purpose of this expedition wasn’t to defend the land, but to capture slaves.

Reynault, honorable to a fault and disgusted by his commander’s greed, challenged his general to a duel and slew him. Upon their returning home, Reynault was arrested for treason and he was sentenced to death after a show trial.

Thanks to one of Reynault’s comrades, he escaped the prison on the eve of his execution. On the run, he has become a wandering knight-errant, fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. It wasn’t long into Reynault’s travels that he met Clarity.

Clarity spent her early years at an orphanage. As a child, she was always interested in the magical arts, and bought, borrowed, and outright stole any magical text she could get her hands on. She excelled at divination magic, and soon she struck out on her own as a fortuneteller. Clarity is usually seen with her pet owl, Oracle.

Eventually, Reynault and Clarity’s paths crossed and they have been helping each other ever since. As friends at first, but then to something much, much more.
