Character: Solana Balfir, Half-elf Sorceress

Solana Balfir is a cheerful half-elf sage who loves to sketch and study. Solana never knew her parents. Clerics found her at the doorstep of a temple to Beshaba, a tiny babe wailing in a basket. There, she spent several years, raised not as an acolyte but as a servant. Her life was not a happy one, and at night she would beg silently to any that might hear to help her, promising she would give anything, even her soul.

One day she discovered that perhaps someone had granted her wishes; with just a concentrated though and a wiggle of her fingers, the floors would suddenly be spotless as though she had spent hours scrubbing them. Suddenly finding more free time than ever before in her life, she often snuck into the library to read books and stare awestruck at the beautiful lettering of some of the tomes. One day she was caught and punished. In her fright during the beating she received, her magic surged, shooting out an enormous ball of fire around her. The library was burned to the ground and the priests threw her out of the temple.

Left with nowhere to go, she wandered the streets, living as a hungry, pitiful stray, shunned by humans and elves alike.

One day, she fainted at the feet of an elven man who took pity on her and took her back to his chambers at the university. Thus began a new chapter in her life. Soon, Raloric Balfir, the professor who had rescued her and quickly became her foster father, discovered that she had a talent for letters and a passion for reading. She was sent to the libraries to work as a scribe, copying books and scrolls.

But Raloric absolutely refused to let his daughter spend her entire life “moldering away covered in parchment” and sent her out to roam the world and experience life to its fullest, something she has been doing for the past ten years.

What do you think? :)

I had a lot of fun with this commission! HD attachment below!
