Gertie, Halfling Druid (and Clem, her Alligator Friend!), Negotiating with Hobgoblins - Sketch (Patreon)

Gertie is one of four party members I was commissioned to draw recently! You already saw Brimble, the female dwarf rogue (and vampire). So here is: Gertie’s Negotiations

Character: Gertie, Halfling Druid (and Clem, her Alligator Friend!)

Gertie grew up in the Applewine Valley, a loose collection of halfling towns administered by a nearby human kingdom. She spent most of her free time exploring the marshy river deltas near her hometown, completely enamored with nature. While most halflings tend to be homebodies, Gertie couldn’t stay in one place for long, and enjoyed spending her time travelling outdoors. She joined the druidic enclave in the region and began learning their ways. During her time at the enclave, Gertie befriended a tiny alligator she named Clem, and the two were inseparable.

While visiting town one evening, Gertie met a troupe of musicians, performers, actors, and acrobats called the Edema Ruh. They sang beautiful songs, told ancient fables, put on heart wrenching and moving plays, and even travelled with a small circus of animals. Gertie found herself absolutely delighted with the small herd of animals she had never seen before, but at the same time had profound concerns about their wellbeing. Always somewhat on the impulsive side, Gertie appointed herself caretaker of the animals, and left with the Edema Ruh later that week as they continued on to the next town, ready for whatever the wider world had to offer.

Here, Gertie is putting her cheer and friendliness into use to negotiate with a band of hobgoblins. They don’t share a common language so Gertie is attempting to pantomime!
