Character Name: Merrissela “Angel” Wheaterton, Human Wizard/Fighter and Pirate Captain

Angel was a notorious pirate captain and a memorable antagonist to a group of heroes. She captured the heroes once, but they managed to slip away. Angel did not take this insult kindly; she made sure no one would hear of it or tell of it. And thus she hunted them down. Eventually, she got extremely lucky as the heroes were traveling across the Golden Strait. A battle ensued, and while it was rough and there were several close calls, the heroes emerged victorious. They captured Angel - a feat that none had accomplished in fifteen years - and brought her to Qadoran authorities. In turn, the heroes were rewarded greatly: they were given a mansion and a small area of land surrounding it (all of which was exempt from taxes), as well as a biannual salary of fifty thousand gold pieces that would continue up to their grandchildren. 

Angel’s ship, the Father’s Pride, was handed over to the heroes for whatever purpose they sought fit for. The heroes discussed it amongst themselves and decided that they would use it to travel whenever they needed to, but otherwise left it in the care of a merchant they befriended. The ship was renamed the Bejeweled Chalice and the heroes intend to use it to travel to the next location on their list. Her sword Heartpiercer was given to the party’s fighter as a secondary weapon and her spellbook was burned to appease the Lord Commander of the City Watch in Veaksten, who sought Angel’s head as vengeance for the murders of his son and wife upon the child’s capture.

And as the Qadorans celebrate, a new power emerges from within the Cluster. One that is more ambitious, yet more subtle than Angel ever was. A duo that even the Admiral of the Pirate Cluster has grown weary about: Gilderoy Whittaker - captain of the Gilded Blade - and his lover Carmela Valdespino Fortuna - captain of El Águila Volando. They have been waiting patiently for their chance to shine, and with Angel out of the picture, they see no better opportunity than the present.
