William

Hey Everyone! My name is William and I’ve been playing guitar almost everyday for 4 months now, and I bought myself an electric guitar two weeks ago. Love the way you teach and I’m hoping to be able to create riffs off the pentatonic scales and jam to songs. I also want to get better at rhythm and learn a set of 10 songs that I can play start to finish and eventually would love to be able to sing along to as well.

Scott Paul Johnson

Hi William, welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here AND I hope you create riffs for community Challenges! Check out my rhythm course, too: https://www.scottpauljohnson.com/strumming-patterns

Dan Rolander

Hi all! My name is Dan. I'm 62 and I've been playing since I was around 10, but I am nowhere near as good as I would like to be. I am mostly self-taught, with help from friends and videos, although I have taken some in-person lessons. For years I mostly played rhythm guitar. Just learning songs seemed like a major accomplishment and was fun. Lately however I've decided to focus on getting to know the fretboard better and becoming a decent lead guitar player. I know my pentatonic shapes and have a pretty good understanding of music theory and chord construction, but still struggle to play interesting solos and to "see" the notes without relying on my standard shapes. I am really enjoying the CAGED series of lessons and that is opening up my mind to using different voicings and moving more horizontally up and down the neck. I have followed a lot of internet guitar teachers over the years but Scott is really good and has a way of explaining things that seems fresh and enlightening. I also love the use of PDFs and graphics. I am looking forward to participating in the community challenges.
