Yikes......started here for your take on caged......I need to start at the beginning of caged.....and go from there......couldn't find that starting point.....maybe I'll find it before you have to show me where it is.....thanks Paul

Hey Scott, I'm at the point where I can spot a root note, quickly figure out all the 3rd and 5th notes, figure out what CAGED shape and key I'm in, apply the memorized pentatonic scale, and then shift to the previous and next CAGED shape up and down the neck. My question is, how do you easily figure out the shape/notes for the next chord progression? Is there an easy technique we can apply for all chord progressions such as flatting the root note, or is it more of a memorizing thing? (i.e. If I'm in the key of D using the E shape on the 10/12th frets, is the idea to just flat the root note to figure out the iii C# chord progression? Or is it easier to just memorize the shape?) BTW you have done an awesome job compiling all of this information and explaining it. I've spent 10 years on and off taking guitar lessons and attempting to self teach, but have never understood it this well!

Hi Samuel - Thanks for being here. It kind of has more to do with knowing the relationship between the chords, like I and IV ALWAYS have corresponding shapes. This concept has a lot of different approaches and there isn't always a "simple" solution. But I'm working on more CAGED System lessons. So hopefully I'll be able to clear this stuff up more.
