hahaha this was an amazing reaction. loved seeing you guys on the edge of your seats. also dont worry about not finishing the season this week, of course watching the matches in one sitting is the best way to do it, but if it results in you feeling stressed out or pressured, its not gonna be a nice experience. so take your time with it. also, please make sure to watch the after credits scene of episode 24, its just a small scene but very important! im looking forward to next week, and also next season, cause shit is gonna get very wild!

don’t worry about not finishing it up this week! life is busy :) and we all appreciate the hard work you put into making thoughtful and entertaining content. I can’t wait for the finale next week!

also, yamaguchi's moment is one of the most relatable ones in the show. the pressure i feel when i have to serve at a crucial moment in a match is insane and unfortunately it often affects my abilities as well. nervousness can be a much more dangerous enemy than the opposing team. you will find out if or how yamaguchi will be able to move on and learn from that experience

fox

I love our boy Yamaguchi, he is extremely relatable. A pinch server will keep serving as long as their team is making points, until the other team scores.

It’s ok not ending this season right now. I can wait knowing how thoughtful your reactions are. I’m an ARMY and see how much work you guys have been doing in the last couple of weeks. Thank you for all your hard work! A small detail being lost after watching it the first time: there is a moment where Kageyama said that Hinata almost “stole his toss”. I’ve noticed this after watching it many times, but it’s fun to know how SCARY Hinata’s decoy is. @12:00 Kageyama tossed to Asahi and soon after their point, he breathlessly looked at Hinata in disbelief. The reason here was because Kageyama almost tossed to Hinata, who was being a decoy and had 2 blockers in front of him. YET! Knowing that Hinata was the wrong choice to toss to, the overpowering presence of Hinata’s greed to get the ball and lead everyone’s attention to him, made Kageyama hesitate for a spilt second to change his original plan and toss to him. Luckily he is a genius and broke through Hinata’s grip and did the Pipe Penetration with the ace (the reason you guys almost missed this small detail 🤣). Mind you, Asahi had always been Kageyama’s choice to toss to, but Hinata almost took that away. Imagine how scary it must feel for a setter, who initially controls the whole team, TO BE controlled by the decoy. This is why Kageyama said that Hinata IS the ULTIMATE DECOY. Because, not only did he deceived the opponents, but also his own teammates. The power struggle on who leads the whole play in the team will later on be talked about in details and after rewatching this series many times, I finally understand how this moment foreshadows many great scenes in the future seasons and the relationship between the setter and the spiker. YAMAGUCHI IN THA HOUSE! Yes! Yamaguchi IS the moment that changed their momentum. Coach Ukai was panicking like the other players on finding out how to turn this whole thing in their favour. They already used Suga in the previous set and Hinata can’t keep his decoy and quicks for ever. So the coach chose the player they all least expected, Yamaguchi. Though the coach and secretly his teammates didn’t have any high expectations on Yamaguchi as this was his first serve of his first official play. So, when Yamaguchi failed his jump floater, notice how no one actually was disappointed or mad. Instead they all encouraged him to do well next time. I know many viewers said to watch the whole Aoba Johsai match as a whole and it is difficult with your schedule to do so. But, this Yamaguchi moment is the reason why the title is called “the moment that changed the momentum” Because it did not only change the momentum for Karasuno (a time to breath and calm down), but also the viewer. If watched in whole you’ll find yourself breath out and calm down a little with this whole scene. 😉 LET’S GO FOR THE SEASON’S FINALE!!!!

Here's a vid of a libero doing a jump set over the line: https://youtu.be/-KWlLgJjGhs?si=LMD0ShgjGhfRkQwT&t=65 (I tried to set the time, but in case it didn't work, starts at 1:05) There is another example at 2:21 Also yes, the backrow attack is absolutely called the Pipe lolol Also to give more context to Seijoh not blocking Hinata's quick, it can only work because they see that Hinata is always hitting full force in the direction that the toss was given *aka depending solely on Kageyama's toss* .. so that it will always go in a straight line and the Libero can be there. There is no way that not blocking a spike would be better in any other situation though. Last thing, promise.... Yamaguchi came in as a pinch server... meaning he's just taking the spot of the person that was supposed to serve (in this case Hinata) and he would immediately come off once the other team scores. - there was never a question of his staying for the full set.

i found it for you :) if you look at 0:40 their play got block but they recieved it and then at 0:44 is the jump behind the line set and spike.. how ever that whole japan play from 0:30 is worth the watch they even had nishinoya pancake moment save, where the hand is flat on the ground https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-2igkZ-xlo

I love seeing your reaction and how into it you get. It reminds me of when I first started watching the anime. It is so hard just to stay still and not move your body when intense shots/episodes happen. No need to be sorry about not finishing the season today. I am a pateron on both of your sites and I see how jam packed your schedule is with reacting to three different animes and your BTS content. Take your time and don't get burnt out. Can't wait for next Wednesday! You are going to love the last two episodes.

Here, at 00:35 and 00:56 you'll see a Libero jump setting exactly like Seijo's libero did. https://youtu.be/6z0A0-ZX-cU?si=c5rlApynj00HcF4I

ahhh watching your reaction to the final episodes of season one got me just as hyped as if I’m watching the episodes for the first time again ! i wasnt into volleyball at all but haikyuu changed my mind about that and its kinda refreshing seeing you guys also get curious for the sport. If youre interested in watching more digestible volleyball moves, i recommend you follow tobias krick. He’s a german volleyball player (& tiktok star, he basically runs his own fanpage atp 😂) who is over 2 meters tall and let me tell you … this man slaps these balls so hard he could throw it into another dimension. He’s a middleblocker and getting blocked by him must be so pressuring. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1m1cEdM95x/?igsh=eHZyd2I0ejB1dGc5 https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3iq212MbIs/?igsh=MWp3eHZveGlzdXA0eg== Fun Fact : His favorit Haikyuu Character is Tsukishima, whos also the giant middleblocker in karasuno. Thank you boys for your hard work ~

Vocab: Pipe A planned attack with particular tempo/timing (you’ll learn about tempo later) where a back row hitter receives the set behind the attack line and in the middle of the court. Vocab: Attack Line The attack line is 10 feet from the net and runs parallel to it. It separates the front-row players from the back row players and comes with rules and regulations. A back row player cannot legally attack the ball above the net unless he takes off from behind the attack line (he can land inside the attack line). This is why Asahi, playing in the back row, jumps for the pipe spike behind the attack line. When Aoba Josai had possession, their libero, a back row player, also jumped prior to the attack line so he could set and a hitter could spike. A libero is allowed to set from inside the attack line but the next touch is then relegated to a move other than an above-the-net-attack like a spike. Seijoh’s libero, being a former setter, had the skills and game IQ to know he had to jump set from behind the attack line in order to have the next touch be a spike which provided a greater chance of winning the point. On to the next two episodes and hopefully some relief and resolution for you guys!💜😁

Something analogous to basketball may be a wild pass in the front court that misses its intended target and is headed in the air to the backcourt and someone is talented enough to redirect the ball mid-air back into the front court before their feet hit the ground in the backcourt, avoiding a backcourt violation. Football analogy? Consider the kicking team beating the receiving team to the ball on a punt and saving the ball in mid-air from landing in the end zone, flicking it out to a teammate to down the ball inside the 5, to avoid a touchback. The gist: Lines matter in all sports and come with their own unique rules and regulations which increase the difficulty of play and challenge athletes to not only use their bodies but their minds as well. Volleyball has way more nuance than bump, set, spike, and serve. I’m so glad your affinity for the sport is growing!

the only patreon sub i have, and for haikyuu haha. i will say, at the end of every season they have OVA's, which are like bonus episodes or extra content. 100% watching them. Going back to this game, I love seeing Jordan FEEL the investment he has into Yamaguchi. Real shit.

Oikawa's story is one of perseverance and determination. Despite lacking natural talent, he competes fiercely against gifted opponents through sheer hard work. An important moment in his journey occurs when he realizes that victory lies in the collective strength of the team, not just individual brilliance. This realization leads Oikawa to change his style, focusing on helping each player reach their full potential. His dedication is evident as he pushes himself to the limit. Oikawa's story is a testament to the power of teamwork and the relentless pursuit of improvement. So, for all Haikyuu fans, Oikawa is a character that everyone loves, respects, and encourages, even if they are fans of the Karasuno , and this is what is special about this show. I am almost certain that there is no hateful character in this show. All the characters will find yourself loving them in some way, and it is the same for the teams, even if you are a Karasuno fan, you will also cheer For the other teams. Finally, we are almost ready to start the second session. Your watching the first session is only an introduction, and the enthusiasm and attachment to the characters and getting deeper into the teams will begin soon, so grab your pen and notebook. You will write many names and notes. I am excited about your journey.

The physical reaction to tadashi ! Is soooo real dude ! 😭

Hey off subject but over\under for the team is based on the teams record and if there is players not playing. The team that is expected to win will be minus and the other team will be plus. You also have over/under for the players that is based on there average, how well they have been playing, and if other key players aren’t playing. Parlay is when you combine different bets into 1 to make the odds go higher. The higher the odds, the more u get back if it comes true. Anything plus is when it’s not expected to happen. The higher the plus, the less likely to happen

please watch ova the arrival of haiba lev before u watch s2

I suck at sports but I do know my way around sports betting. So a parlay is several bets combined into a big one. For example, let's say you think the 76ers will win against the Knicks, the Bucks will win against the Celtics, and the Lakers will win against the Mavericks. You could place these 3 individual bets, and win or lose on each one. Or you could place one big bet (a parlay) on all 3. If you're wrong on even just one of them, then you lose it all. So it's a lot harder to win. But if you're right on all of them, boy does it pay off big time (sometimes up to 1000 times! , depending on the odds). When betting on the winning team, plus means the team is weak, minus means the team is strong. For example Warriors vs 76ers 76ers : +110 Warriors: -130 This means if you bet 100$ on the 76ers winning, you'll win 110$, because the 76ers are perceived as the underdog so it's a risky bet with more rewards (plus). Conversely the Warriors are seen as the favorites, the safer bet with less rewards (minus), you must overpay and bet 130$ to win 100$ (so a 100$ bet on Warriors would only give you 77$). There are several types of over/under wagers that exist, but the most common is the total points scored. The bet is about predicting the total amount of points scored rather than the winning team. So if you go to the casino and see this: Lakers vs Knicks Over 210 : -110 You are betting that the total points scored in that game will be over 210, and you will win $100 for every $110 you bet. So if the final score of the game is 114–98, then 114+98=212, which is more than 210 and you win! If you see Lakers vs Knicks Under 210 : +130 then the experts in Vegas think these players are fired up, as you can win 130$ on a 100$ bet if they lamely score less than 210 points combined. Yes it's experts in Vegas or other casinos who come up with these numbers by analyzing the teams, the players and past games. Sports betting is one of the few games that you can win consistently if your own analysis of the game is on the money :)

All of real volleyball player reactors that I watched before, when they saw Yamaguchi get in, they all agreed with that decision immediately. All of them said pretty much the same thing, even with only putting new sub player in, it will distract the opponent. You gotta try everything. No matter the sub player is good or not, it's enough to cut the momentum.

Amazing analogies! So well described I can picture it as I read, learn and appreciate other sports more! Loved it, thanks @antionette7 💜🙏🏻

Holy crap I've finally caught up on your Haiyu reactions! This is my first time watching this anime and to be honest I judged it pretty harshly at first. I always hated sports since I was a kid, so I dropped it before even finishing the first episode. But when I caught up to your Death Note and AOT reactions I thought I'd give this anime another chance and I'm so glad I did. I'm invested not only in the characters but the sport too. After watching this I started to watch real volleyball games and it's amazing to really know what's going on, just because it's happened in this show. I feel while watching a real match I can see and appreciate how much planning and skill it takes to just earn a single point from the other team. Like you guys I feel I've missed out on such a cool sport that I never thought would ever interest me.

Oscar OBG

This match is going down to the wire huh. The big question I have is: have y'all ever been seen as the unlikely to win underdog and ended up completely destroying people's expectations? This can be in sports or anything. I'm curious because I sort of live by the underpromise over deliver mindset, and I sort of enjoy it when people don't have high expectations and end up being surprised. Curious on the answer thanks!

Oscar OBG

Quick question. Who's y'all's favorite character so far?
