yall will figure it out, try listening really close to the way characters call each other, like Hange : Han-Ji and Mike : Mee-Kay. don't forget they will also add 'san' to the ends of names out of respect when necessary. can you think of maybe a few different reasons someone might attack the experiments? i know some characters may be acting sus right now, but when so much care was taken to capture titans it makes one wonder why someone would sneak in to kill them. also i'll say it here again too so that you see it many times, but i agree with those saying to stick to the crunchyroll subtitles. lol yall posting this and a bts video at the same time is unfair 😋 but i had to watch this first.

CandykOh

Can someone in their mods remind them to not forget to watch the OVAs at the same time as the series. Particularly Ilse's Notebook (watch before starting season 2), No Regrets (watch before starting season 3), and Lost Girls (watch before starting season 4)???

Dognuts

You said “one day” but I’ll say now I suppose lol I weld parts for John Deere looking forward to you two getting to season 3 and 4 you have no idea, this show gets exponentially better every single episode WITHOUT fail I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up as your favorite if not second favorite show after breaking bad respectfully.

Let's go GOLD🎉🎉🔥👏🏾

I'm not sure which platform you guys are using to watch aot but I've noticed some weird translations from the subs. I've never seen Commander Zachary being called Zackly (although it's closer to the japanese pronunciation of his name) but most of all in that episode where Hange is calling Levi "fussy', he is not fussy, he is a clean freak, that's why he says "filthy" when having titan blood on him and makes the scene of him holding his soldier bloody hand even more powerful. And it make the scene of them cleaning the castle in this episode even funnier Anyway, it's not that big of a deal like it's not changing the story entirely, just small differences here and there that I am noticing. And it can't be worse than Netflix's french subs calling Levi 'Rivaille' which made me throw up in my mouth a little when I saw it

Kevin

I know you guys recorded this in batches, but just to add in addition to my long comment on E14 about switching back to Crunchyroll for much better translations, another awkward phrase here is Petra talking to Eren about Levi: Blu-ray: “He was an infamous rogue in the capitals underground mall”. Crunchyroll: “He was a famous thug, operating in the capital’s underground”. Crunchyroll subs flows much more accurately with how English is spoken, and doesn’t use such out of place words like “mall”. Hopefully they see these comments in time for the next batch of recordings! Edit: they saw this message and responded above already, love these guys!!

Slussh

Nuuuu, don't mispronounce Hange like that! :(

Selina

Oh no, Hange's name 🫣 A fun fact about Sawney and Bean, the story Hange was telling us about, is a real legend. Their names are a reference to a man called Alexander "Sawney" Bean. Sawney Bean was the head of a clan of 45 members in Scotland. In this legend, Sawney Bean has murdered and cannibalised over a 1000 of people in 25 years. (Pretty much the same story as Hange was telling us about)

jaredandjordananime

We’ll switch back to Crunchyroll for the next batch of recordings. And we’ll get our pronunciation of Hange’s name right! 😂 tomorrow’s video has already been recorded, sorrrry hehe

romain leoni

Thanks for listening to your community, we're picky buy it's for your own good and you having the best version of the story possible

Carmen Villanueva

this part of the season is one of my faves ahh 🥊

Kevin

Thank you so much! The important episode I mentioned with intricate dialogue is later on in Season 1, so I’m really glad you guys listened so quickly and will be back on Crunchyroll for that. Best AoT reactors 🙏

hyacinthus 🪻🏹

The dialogue is slightly different in the English dub, but Erwin says "What is it you think you see? Who do you think the real enemy is here?" (with emphasis on real) Earlier, during the Trost arc, just before Commander Pyxis gives his speech, Eren says to Armin and Mikasa in the sub, "Also, I think there's a bigger issue that must be addressed before the plan can be executed. And the Commander fully recognises it. The titans aren't our only enemy." and then it cuts to the soldiers gathering for Pyxis' speech. My personal thought was that Eren was referring to the people, whose cowardice may jeopardise their plan. The theme of an Enemy in AOT is really important for reasons I shan't explain, but it's recurring. Erwin isn't being suspicious; you'll come to learn something about his character which fully explains his awkward behaviour, whispering in children's ears and asking them silly questions about enemies. I swear it. Just keep this in mind, because it is relevant.

hyacinthus 🪻🏹

Well, Erwin IS being suspicious. But that doesn't really matter - the scene was supposed to make you think, "What the hell is he talking about?"

Animes sometimes have something called OVAs. It refers to content that doesn't get aired on TV or in theaters but is released on DVD or Blu-ray. They aren't necessarily important enough to be their own episode, but they can provide context to the show that gives characters and storylines more depth. Haikyuu has a couple and so does Aot. Here is a list on the order to watch, if you guys are interested. After Season 1: Episode 3.25- Ilse’s Notebook - Provides more context to Hange and her interest in Titans Episode 3.5- A sudden Visitor - Some content from the 104th training corps training days - More of a funny episode Episode 3.75- Distress - More 104th training corps content - Provides more context to everyone's dynamic with each other Episode 0.5A / 0.5B- No Regrets Part 1 and 2 - a two-part Levi backstory on his life before the Survey Corps and how he ended up joining and becoming such a "rule-follower" That is all for post-season 1. If you guys do decide to watch them, I would love to see your reactions, but ofc it won't be necessary for the ongoing plot, so it’s up to you. Episode 15 has to be one of my favorite episodes this season because of how everyone is introduced and their dynamics with each other. Up to this point, I found it hard to relate to Eren because of his over-the-top character, but this time we were all just as confused as him lol. The dynamic between Levi Squad is also pretty interesting especially how much they look up to Levi. Some questions I have for you guys: - What do you think Commander Erwin was referring to with his question? “Who do you think the enemy is?” - Any theories on what the “real” reason for the expedition outside the walls is? Why might Erwin keep it a secret from Mike, who seems to be a close friend? Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the show, it only gets more suspenseful from here, but don’t worry, the show answers every question it asks.

I'm not an MD yet, but I am medical student. I would say that unless someone was on blood thinning medication such as aspirin, it is unlikely to die from hemorrhage due to a tongue bite. However, if one were to completely bite off their tongue and did not seek medical attention, its semi-feasible they could die from hypovolemic shock or infection due to the amount of blood vessels in the area and the nature of bacteria in the human mouth.

Gatha Naranath

Ur about to reach my favorite episode of this season. episode 17. i'm getting all excited just thinking about it. And i'm so glad i got the otaku gold cause i'll get to see u gys watch it in just 2 days

Tobias Jeager

Hey guys, loved the reaction as usual! My question for you is how are you enjoying the background music, openings and general OST? The music in this show really is just as phenomenal as the writing right? It really tells the story and sets the mood for the show! Also, speaking of jobs, mines being a full time a snake breeder, gargoyle gecko breeder and a reptile education assistant!

Kel

“Hange loves Titans the way Sasha loves food.” SO. ACCURATE. 😂😂😂 I’m loving these daily uploads!! Tomorrow’s episode is where I feel like the show really gets going, I’m excited we made it here!

Kel

No worries guys! You’re doing fantastic.

OP_Tempest

You can 100% bleed from biting your tongue, could be lethal aswell, MD here :)

Roberto Rossodivita

As a musician, I need to tell you a fun fact about the music here in Aot: you already mentioned "music" during the past episodes but I want to be more specific in order to let you notice something more deep. Hiroyuki Sawano is the name of the composer of the majority of Aot ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS (OST). He is both a pianist and a composer. When he composed the main ost of this show, called ""ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn"" (it's just the pronunciation of attack on titan), he composed that song according to the plot of the first season episodes. If you take a quick listen to that song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zroFzv7sFis), you will notice a development of the song itself in this sense: 1) within the first 30 seconds first we have the brass and then the chorus, and this chorus is built to inspire a sort of anxiety within the hearer. These first 30 seconds recall the first episode when the colossal titan appeared and breached the wall, while people were staring at him in a sort of general incredulity of what they were witnessing. 2) from the second 0.47 strings jump in, along with a female voice that sounds more like a continuous lament, a sort of moan...people are realising that the titans now can invade the city of Shiganshina, so they begin to be scared 3) 1 minute, 3 seconds: again the chorus...titans entered the wall, people are running in fear because they realised they are going to be devoured by titans. We are still in episode 1. 4) 1 minute, 17 seconds: time for heavy rock...drums and guitars jump in. Titan are invading the city very quickly, they are devouring people, the armored titan breached also the inner wall of shiganshina, allowing titans to invade the wall maria as well. General panic has been unleashed within the humanity. We are in episode 2. 5) 1 minute, 32 second: calm after the storm. People have moved within wall rose. We are in episode 3 and more. 6) 1 minute, 48 seconds: our guys have started the training, they are growing together, getting to know each other, becoming friends. Episode 3 and more. 7) 2 minutes, 25 seconds: humanity's counterattack can begin. We are grown, 5 years have passed, our guys are full of vitality, and since we have always lost against titans, the time of humanity's revenge has finally come (remember commander Pixis saying something like "we have never won against titans, there's nothing that bores me more than losing"). Eren didn't allow the titans to breach wall rose. Moreover he closed the breach of Trost and now they are working to retake the wall maria as well. In the end, the first part of the song was composed by using music notes and tones that inspire fear. The second part with music notes and tones that inspire hope, positive expectations, faith for the future. I really recommend you to pay attention to the music. Aot is a masterpiece also for the epicness of its music. The tragedy of some soundtracks, along with the epicness of other ones, make this show THE masterpiece.

In case you're wondering, nobody keeps track of Levi's kill count because it's so beyond what anybody else has. Also Levi doesn't drink alcohol, he drinks tea.

Hippopi

Usually you'd bleed out from biting off your tongue, and depending on the circumstances you could end up choking to death from the blood.

Banirabu

In the anime they pronounce it "Haungee" so that's how I've always said it too. She's my favorite character. I admire her curiousity, and her empathy for the titans. RIP Sawney and Bean ;-;

Charaety

This was the episode that made me love Hange (I thought she was a little unhinged at first too) and made me see just how much of an impact the Survey Corps may have had on where humanity is now. The last few episodes perfectly depicted how the fear of the unknown (both in the citizens and soldiers) can control and rule over crucial decision making processes. Then there are those few like Pyxis, Erwin, Levi, Hange, etc who laugh about it or appear nonchalant but they take that fear head on and use it to their advantage in the next steps towards saving humanity, fully aware of the sacrifices it could bring. Hange turning away from hatred allowed her to think outside of the box and do things outside of the norm. And I imagine because of her experiments and the scouts’ expeditions, they’ve been able to gain more information that helps them in their fight against titans even if some may not seem as significant. Thank you for another great reaction! Can’t wait for the next episode!

hiro ame

Thank you for the great reaction again! Sawney and Bean is named after a real serial killer lived in Scotland. His actual name was Alexander "Sawney" Bean, and as Hange said, he was leading a family that was eating humans. It is a interesting story. Have fun and take care! :D

lauren crawford

Honestly as weird *amazingly lovely* as Hange is I'd be more scared of her if she wasn't affected emotionally by the pain she's inflicting.

lauren crawford

Not me sitting here with this face ready for it to be a couple months from now 🫢🫣

lauren crawford

Also Mike (Miche) depending on the translation you watch is a squad leader so same level of sponserbility as Levi, although Levi squad is considered elites

Silver

I'd let Hange disect me 😏

Durch Freude

keep in mind what erwin said at the end

bort

crunchy roll translations are much better, this one feels a bit paraphrased

bort

erwin looks more handsome in the manga they kinda nerfed his appearance. regardless he is still handsome here

bort

endings of attack on titan are just as important as intros. so please (i beg) dont skip them🙏🙏 especially endings from season 2 and up

benjamin mc coggleworth jr the lll

i dont rlly get the fuss abt intros and outros, they arent THAT important and if you dont want to watch them, dont. youre not goint to miss any vital details if you skip them. my general rule of thumb is to just watch an intro/outro once if theres a new one, like how the intro changed half way into season 1

antionette7

Many thanks for the new schedule! Love having content to catch up on after work. Great way to unwind. Love your hypothesizing. @29:27 you share your thoughts on Titan injuries, white smoke, and regeneration. Want to blow your mind a bit? Please rewatch Episode 3 @49:11 through 49:45. Let us know how this brief piece of info adds or detracts from your current hypothesis surrounding Titan lore!

Wulf

Irwin says “Who do you think the real enemy is?” The translation on the one you’re watching is off so it doesn’t give off the same feel.

Malia

Hange and Levi are 2 of my top 5 favorite characters, hange is wild and unpredictable but reliable and loyal. Seeing this new squad, who do you think will be your favorites and what was your overall impression of Levi's squad at first meet. Can't wait for next week! So much happens the next 5 episodes!

The great thing about AoT (and other great Animes) is that they don't focus on the MAIN plot alone, they have sub-plots (or Arcs) along the way that keeps the series interesting. These sub-plots may feel out of nowhere sometimes or appear as if its deviating from the main storyline but no, they are all ultimately connected to each other. This episode is an example of that, it's a beginning to a sub-plot that will ultimately tie-in with the main storyline later on, the lack of action and heavier emphasis on dialogues plus introduction to new characters are necessary to build a good story. I remember people losing interest to watch AoT when episodes like this came out, saying that it's getting boring, or they wanted to see the action/battles instead of all the talking and confusing extra storylines. I hope you guys see the importance of these episodes as it makes the Anime's plotline even more complex and gripping.

david ammerman

Thats what makes aot great. Some of the best scenes in anime are aot diallogue. Virtually no filler too.

Nate

Depending on the season, there are spoilers in most of the intros and outros and its common to skip them up to a certain point.

benjamin mc coggleworth jr the lll

yeah but if you watch it when you first see it or the intro pops up by the time the show would progress to that “spoiler” most people would have already likely forgotten most details in the intro/outro

Rhast

Yes, the tongue has two very large veins. You can see them on the underside of the tongue. You can bleed out if the damage is bad enough. It's why tongue piercings are so dangerous and you should only get them done by professionals.

Nate

I think you are underestimating and it also depends on the viewer. Some reactors can put together the entire main plot from some of the in/outros. I don't think Jared & Jordan are the type to deeply analyze the show and intro/outros frame by frame, but still, if you need to rely on the viewer "forgetting most details in the outro/intro", that's not a good sign.
