You mentioned in your reaction that Wednesday had trouble connecting with people, but I think it might be more that she is actively trying not to connect with people. We know she is capable of caring for others. Her response to Pugsly being bullied &amp; her pet spider's death show that. But for some reason when Tyler, Enid, Xavier, &amp; everyone else try to reach out to her, she recoils from them &amp; does anything she can to try to dissuade them from trying again. Maybe it's because what happened to her pet scarred her and she is doing all she can to avoid the risk of that pain happening again? As for why the others are even trying with her, I think it varies depending on the individual. Xavier knew her from when they were younger, felt a connection to her from when she saved him. &amp; wanted to connect with that person again. Granted, he has his own baggage thanks to his failed relationship with Bianca. I think you called Enid spot on. She's realized "hey, I am sharing a living space with this other person, so I should try to get along with them &amp; make them feel welcome". Sadly, she is trying to be friends with someone who is the emotional equivalent of a porcupine wrapped in razor wire. Tyler's is the most basic: this person is different from most people I know, and has the confidence in herself to pull it off. He's attracted to her, plain and simple. I think the reason the show was so well received was because of the great performances by the actors who were themselves fantastically cast, the overall design/aesthetic, the music, the expansion of the world in which the Addams Family exists, &amp; the overall story arc of the show. I agree, some of the dialogue can be cringey at times, although personally I think it makes it more real given that people can be awfully cringey at times.
