[Vacation Content 5/7] Magic Item — Dungeon Scribe (Patreon)

Dungeon Scribe is another incredibly skilled and creative item creator. Their items are written in such a way that it's extremely digestible with minimal reading, using a clever system of iconography and choice (colloquial) language. Hos, the creator, is also just a very good friend of mine, and a fervent supporter of all creators. Everyone should hope to have a friend like Dungeon Scribe!

Name: Wailing Lock

Type: Wondrous Item (Lock) - Uncommon 

Description: 

Few objects vex sneak thieves and deft fingers as much as these locks. Forged in the semblance of a face and enchanted with a horrid wail that serves as an alarm, they have been a roadblock in many a heist. For those with something to protect, they are seen as a treasure in themselves in their ability to alert at signs of tampering. Variations of these devices have been seen for centuries, but since each has a unique pitch and difficulty, it makes them a key element of security.

This Lock is provided with a Key.

Without the Key, a creature proficient in Thieve's Tools can pick this lock with a successful DC:17 Dexterity Check. 

Wail: On a Failure, this lock will release an audible Wail. This monotone screaming will drone on in a continuous sound for 1 Minute and can be heard out to a Range of 500ft. 

This can be ended early by placing the Key into the hole or with a successful Thieves’ Tools check
