Hey heroes!

Each week on Discord, community members nominate other members' suggested items to be made into official Saddlebag items. The top two most voted-for item ideas each week get made, following back and forth workshopping and discussion.

You can submit your ideas on Discord, too! Come join us in the #patron-item-workshop channel!

You may recognize some returning item suggestions! Items can be renominated and re-drawn for weekly polls following a week-long cooldown.

Here are the randomly selected item ideas drawn from this week's nominations!

Ideas

1) Shieldarang — A light three-pronged shield meant to be thrown as it detaches from its brace and then returns to reattach after you attack with it. You can also throw it in a wider arc where it makes an additional attack on its return to you on you next turn, but you don't benefit from the shield's AC bonus until it comes back.

2) Impulsum Butterfly — This brass clockwork butterfly occasionally flaps its stained glass wings. It has charges that can be expended to force a target to reroll a saving throw. Alternatively, you can expend all charges to shatter the butterfly’s wings in a thunderous crash to treat the result of an attack roll, ability check or saving throw as a 1 or a 20. Once used, it takes 3 days for the glass wings to slowly reform.

3) Starmetal Blowgun — A metal blowgun, forged from metals that fell from the sky. You gain a bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it and it deals extra piercing damage due to it's magnetic acceleration. The blowgun is loaded with a magnetized needle that is drawn back into the blowgun after every attack, ignoring the loading property. Once per turn, you can attempt to cause a creature hit by it to be outlined by an aurora-like light, as if by the faerie fire spell.

4) Nightseeker's Armor — This gold-accented white leather armor allows you to obscure yourself in bright light like a mirage giving disadvantage on Perception and Investigation checks against you that rely on sight. As an action, you can drain the light from your immediate surroundings, reducing bright sunlight in a sphere around you to dim light, and other creatures who see this effect rationalize it as a natural phenomenon.

5) Bardic Prosthesis — A hollow prosthesis that has a series of keys down the length of the forearm and a hole at the elbow. You can use it to replicate the sound of any instrument you are proficient with. If you're a bard, when a creature rolls your Bardic Inspiration die they can roll again and take the higher result.

6) Icon of the Illustrious — A circlet of woven mist and your skin appears to be stone or metal while wearing it. Your highest ability score and maximum for that score increases. Additionally you gain a natural AC. You can expend its charges to roll a d10 and add the number to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Additionally, you can petrify yourself for a brief time to gain the benefits of a short rest.

7) Friend and Foe — A pair of powerful light hammers named friend and foe that deal bonus damage and have charges which are used to charm or frighten targets struck by them, respectively. While attuned, their attack and damage bonuses increase, as does the DC for their effects, and you gain benefits to attacks against creatures charmed or frightened of you as a result of the hammers' properties.

Keep on adventuring!
