Hey heroes!

Each week on Discord, community members nominate other members' suggested items to be made into official Saddlebag items. The top two most voted-for item ideas each week get made, following back and forth workshopping and discussion.

Here are the randomly selected item ideas drawn from this week's nominations!

Ideas

1) Jade Spearwillow Branch — A spear fashioned from a branch taken from a magical willow tree. It has charges that can be used to grow an extra branch from the spear when you miss an attack, and make a new attack against the target. The new branch becomes leafy and falls to the ground, where a nonmagical willow tree later grows.

2) Ankheg Mandible — A large ankheg mandible has been fashioned into a shovel-like sword. It deals extra acid damage on a hit and you can use an action to excavate a 5-foot cube of loose earth.

3) Aberrant Palate Parasite — A purple creature contained in a jar that binds to you when attuned, replacing your tongue. You can speak Deep Speech and it allows you to cast a variety of enchantment spells like enthrall or modify memory.

4) Scrivener's Loupe — This magical loupe confers a knack for preserving and copying arcane texts. You can use it to store a spell you've cast from a spell scroll to reuse once again later, or be able to copy it. It also makes it easier to cast or copy spells from spell scrolls that would normally be higher than what you could cast.

5) Gravestone Shield — This moss and dirt cover gravestone give you a bonus to AC and has charges for its properties. You can expend charges to engrave a name on its surface to gain advantage on attacks against the named creature, or expend charges as a reaction to gain resistance to a triggering damage type by surrounding yourself in an ethereal mist. You also develop a connection to death that manifests in your dreams, and has various effects when you complete a long rest.

6) Meteorite Button — An amulet that causes the wearer to fall faster, taking more damage from falling. You can pin it to another creature with a grapple check.

7) Shellguard — This pearlescent breastplate gives a bonus to AC, allows you to breathe underwater, and gain a swimming speed. It also has charges that can be used as a reaction to gain resistance to an instance of fire damage.
