Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)

This thick, reinforcing belt is lined with red, tongue-like leather and what appear to be silver teeth. While wearing the belt, whenever you take damage from a bite attack, you can use your reaction to reduce that damage by 1d8 + 2. When this happens, the belt magically bites back at the attacker using its silvery teeth. Make a melee attack using the belt, with an attack bonus of +5. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 +2 piercing damage.

Around the fire, the camp's squires sat in enraptured silence before the quartermaster. The quartermaster, a chef-turned-adventurer-turned-camp-master, had promised them stories of every creature he'd eaten...and of those that had eaten him!

As his tales grew taller, their laughter grew harder. The riotous motion strained the quartermaster's belt, which held back his gut of muscle and fat. From between laughs, he said, "And then! The wurm came at me like a hellish mining engine—all teeth and rage and bile! By then, I was halfway in the grave, so it finally managed to get its jaws around me! But it was just as near to death as I…."

The squires leaned forward, hypnotized by the man's nearly manic grin. Suddenly, he laughed again and slapped his belt, shouting, "I gave it the first lesson I learned in this very camp: if the enemy bites you, you bite it back!"
