Hey heroes!

Each week on Discord, community members nominate other members' suggested items to be made into official Saddlebag items. The top two most voted-for item ideas each week get made, following back and forth workshopping and discussion.

Here are the randomly selected item ideas drawn from this week's nominations!

Ideas

1) Staff of the Hellfire Slopes — A staff from a fiendish lord living in the hellish mountains of the lower planes. You can use the staff's magic to inflict the aspects of the hellish slopes on a target. You can cause a target to be knocked prone and take fire damage each turn until it can shake off the gravity. Alternatively, you can cast a variant of the maze spell which sends the target to a demiplane where they must push a boulder up a slope, taking bludgeoning damage from the boulder if they are unable to push it.

2) Axe of Essential Inversion — A greataxe which deals additional force damage to celestials and fiends. When dealing damage to a celestial or fiend, you can attempt to curse it, temporarily removing its resistance to specific damage types, depending on its creature type. If you reduce a creature to 0 hp while it is cursed by this axe, you can stabilize it and transform it into the other creature type permanently. When you do this, there is a chance the axe loses the ability to affect the type of creature that was transformed.

3) Voidknight's Cudgel — A maul for paladins crafted from the remains of a dead god. While attuned you age more slowly, and can deal psychic damage instead of radiant when using divine smite. Additionally, when hitting a creature with this maul, you can attempt to make them be affected by the levitate spell. When used this way, you can affect multiple creatures with levitate at once.

4) Fragments of Chaos — A necklace decorated with glass beads, which each contain a shred of magic from a different plane of existence. By throwing a glass bead, it creates a random magical effect at the point of impact, drawing its effects from one of those planes.

5) Fiend's Hand — A taxidermied fiend's hand, which can be used to cast the alarm spell by tracing its finger around the perimeter of the spell. This version of the spell creates a banshee's scream, instead of the normal alarm, and the hand magically attempts to grapple the triggering creature.

6) Tenth Circle — A powerful, sickly sword that revels in various blood sacrifices. Its single eye can paralyze or strike fear into foes that look at it, as well as rejuvenate allies using your life force.

7) Alla Breve Blade — A forked blade that can banish creatures to their native planes of existence. By doing so, you can temporarily attune the blade to that same plane, allowing it to be used as part of the plane shift spell.
