We're talking about the major film adaptations of The Island of Dr. Moreau, including the versions from the 70s and 90s, with a lot of love for 1932's The Island of Lost Souls.

Here's that German silent adaptation, and the trailer for The Twilight People.

Oh yeah, and Eaten Alive!

I've always liked the '96 version. It's up there with another Val Kilmer 90s action-horror, 'The Ghost and The Darkness', as one of the underrated movies of its time.

Popping this here as Im not sure where it fits best…. Just finished ‘The War of the Worlds’ in a week while on holiday in Italy, inspired by your coverage of this, and wow - what a book! Quite short and easily digestible, and such a great read. Having grown up with the (admittedly amazing) original Jeff Wayne musical recording soundtracking long car journeys with my parents, the story has always fascinated me (best ending to an alien invasion story ever - and won’t be beaten), it was great to finally read the original text. The middle section describing the exodus from London is particularly visceral and engaging, even more so as London is my home and I know many of the locations well. So many disappointing film adaptations - we sorely need a big budget version that sticks to the original Victorian London setting. BBC tried recently but it felt more like a teleplay, lacking the grandiose scope required to really do it justice. And let’s not even mention the Tom Cruise effort :-/ Needless to say it will make perfect material for your coverage, whenever you get around to it, there’s heaps to discuss in there from ideas about technology, empire, the future biological development of humankind, religion and much more, can’t wait for it to have the Chad & Chris treatment! Loving the show as always, big love from the big smoke x
