My first Pratchett book was Mort and my favorite remains Wyrd Sisters, a retelling of Macbeth. It had, to my mind, the funniest scene I've ever read in fiction, with the Fool and Greebo. I think you ought to start with the first two books - they are loving parody/pastiche, and Rincewind and Twoflower are fantastic characters. Not to mention it's where we first learn of the Librarian. And once you've read more of Pratchett and reread Good Omens, you will know who wrote what, their different styles fully shine through. One thing I do love about the witches series is that they are all reimaginings of famous stories/plays/what have you, and it is fun watching his version play out.

I have been stubbornly (and stupidly) resistant to reading Pratchett for decades. I suppose this might be the thing that gets me to reconsider. It really does sound like y'all are having a ball.

Thanks for reading my comment. If I saved Chad from reading "The Colour of Magic" as his introduction to Pratchett, my work here is done. I think you would have had a much different impression of his work had you started there. As others have pointed out, the early work was more pastiche, whereas the later books were more satire.
