I think I mentioned this to you guys are one point before, but somehow my 6th grade brain got the idea that this was a much more serious ghost story. I think I saw maybe an old movie adaptation and the ghosts seemed of outsized importance? So reading it at that time was definitely different than I expected, but to this day it's one of the few bronte novels, and really one of the few Victorian novels period, that I enjoy. it's hard to have sympathy for the plight of right folk over their interpersonal woes at this point in history.
