May ‘24 Situation Report

Hello there!  I’m hoping you’re all enjoying yourselves out there, wherever you are.  It’s springtime, and despite the increasing number of yearly natural disasters, the sky is still blue and the birds are still singing.  So, rejoice while keeping your head down, and we can all enjoy another wonderful trip around the sun!

But, well wishes and warnings aside, it’s that time of the month again for my patreon’s sit-rep.  Actually, it’s about a week late, but whatever.

Regardless, the time has come that I’ve long warned you about.  I’m cutting down my releases to three times a week, M/W/F.  They will still be posted at 5:30 pm central.  I can only hope that the several months of warnings have prepared you, and there will be no rioting or mass desertions in retaliation for my offense.

I know what you’re thinking, “But why Sheet?  Haven’t we been good to you?!?”

I get it.  I truly do.  But, I’ve written non-stop for the past 6 months, putting up over 500,000 words or something ridiculous like that.  I’ve also been struggling to keep up with my editing process, which is constantly improving.  Even on the RR page, I’ve fallen drastically behind on the edits

However, that is to be expected as I transition from pumping out my thoughts as I have them into growing the story, and paying more attention to the phrases and words I use to get my intended point across.  Every chapter that I post is one step closer to refining my process to deliver the story with the proper tone and subtle world-building you’ve come to expect.

In the coming chapters, we’ll be seeing Nero heading back into combat, and learning more about what he and his unique magical talents can do.  More and more, we’ll get to see Nero interacting with the ethereal plane, and adapting the world’s magic systems into something he can understand and abuse.  Nero’s brief stint as a city-bound noble is almost over, and from here on out he’ll be free to do what he does best.

This story was never meant to be just one thing.  It has elements of slice-of-life, adventure, social commentary, satire, comedy, litrpg, gamelit, and there will even be an arc that revolves around kingdom building.  But that won’t be for a while.  So, I hope you stick around and enjoy the ride.

You guys and gal's support and enthusiasm are what I think about when I feel like just taking a day off and having a nap.  Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being there to offer your opinions, critiques, and likes.  I’ll probably be changing the book cover based on that very feedback.

So, in conclusion, you can all rest easy that while I’m cutting back a little, I’m not going anywhere.  In fact, I’ll probably still be spending all my free time on this.  However, I’ll hopefully be able to start addressing some of the things I’ve been neglecting due to time constraints.  Maybe I’ll even have enough time to actually do some in-depth editing for the upcoming chapters, and not just post them after a quick spell check.  (Which NEVER seems to catch everything)
