Portrait Prize Winner, Mark Anstis (Patreon)

Thank you everyone that participated in this competition and through that, sharing your work with me and your colleagues!

So many of you submitted your work for this competition (almost 100 entries!) and I am truly blown away by how hard you all are worked on your entries. More than anything else this convinces me the value of creating this competition- This will certainly be the first of many. 

Eventually though, I had to choose one portrait to win the competition.

Cornelia Hernes and I looked through all of the entries and after much deliberation have selected a portrait drawing by Mark Anstis. It is a drawing that shows us so much care and effort. Pushing the design of values and softly modeled form without ever losing that sense of clear 3D structure that is the foundation of so much representational work.
