"So... where are we going Nanahoshi?" It feels like we are just aimlessly wandering around the academy. Well, it's not like I'm against spending time with her, but I bet this banana holds... less than great opinions of me.

It's also sort of weird how she walks around with a mask. Honestly, I don't understand why she uses one in the first place... Maybe she's trying to live her chuuni fantasies? I suppose I can't judge.

She responds with a blank tone of voice. "I'm just showing you around... I don't know how long you plan to stay in this city, but if you come here again I don't want you getting lost." She sighs. "Though I am now realizing I'm not exactly familiar with the academy's layout either." Well, with your room being the way it is... I figured you were at least a semi-NEET and it seems I was right.

I hum. "About your question... I don't know to be honest, Eris is gathering some money doing quests, but..." I then realize she has no idea who I'm talking about. "Oh, Eris is the girlfriend I stole from Rudeus by the way." Maybe I shouldn't refer to it as stealing.

I can feel the disgust in Nanahoshi's voice. "Haven't you been here for a measly three weeks? How have you stolen the girlfriend of someone already...?" I would like to say it's because I'm the greatest seducer ever, but...

Now it's my turn to sigh. "Remember the soulmate stuff? It was because of that..." I look down. "Honestly, I should probably surrender myself to the guards or something." I'm surprised she herself hasn't thrown me into the slammer.

For some reason she sounds confused. "And why is that? Did you commit any crimes...?" Yeah, my reputation with her is getting lower and lower... "I'll overlook minor misdeeds from my fellow Earthlings by the way, we have to help each other out." I certainly haven't been helping Rudeus out.

I awkwardly scratch my head, full of shame. "Didn't you hear my explanation from before? I looked Eris in the eyes once and she fell head over heels for me. It's definitely the most wrong thing I have ever done." My supervilain levels are way too high currently.

Nanahoshi shrugs. "I don't really see it the way you do, it just seems to be a law of nature, I guess." A scientist mindset!? Towards something like this!? "Besides, I think you're underestimating your playboy nature, you're scummy even by this world's standards." Yeah, my rep with this gob- banana is definitely below zero.

She continues. "Oh, by the way, the worst thing you ever did was getting rid of my cards. My Man-Eater Bug will never forgive you." I truly apologize from the bottom of my heart, one day I will buy you a new one! Somehow!

I nod. "I know, I'll make it up to you somehow. Promise." I would like to say I never break promises, but breaking them is a common move of mine at this point. Still, I will try to not turn Nanahoshi into my parents by making her disappointed.

I sure hope she's smiling beneath that mask. "You'd better, but please remember that you also have to make up to many other cards, such as Raigeki's, Pot of Greed's, and even my... Black Luster Soldier, Envoy of the Beginning..." She sounds truly in pain at the end, like she's describing a husband she lost in a overseas war.

I hesitantly send her a thumbs up. "Yeah." I have a feeling I will own this girl a debt for the rest of my life. "Anyways, about the staying here thing... Eris is trying to make some money with quests so we can stay here for longer. We have no supplies, and she thinks taking me back right now might be dangerous, since I died the first time." I hate all frogs, and all people who like frogs.

Nanahoshi touches her neck, probably imagining what happened to me. "I see. Didn't you have some kind of plan before coming here?" Me? Plan? Do I look like a decent member of the human species to you?

It's time I sigh again... "Eris had a plan, which was rooming with Rudeus... It didn't go well, for obvious reasons." Those reasons being that I'm a scumbag who steals women, and ruins Yu-Gi-Oh cards... I did enjoy having that Blue-Eyes White Dragon though... Until mom threw it away by accident.

I better not tell Nanahoshi, she might cry. And speaking of this Banana, she's talking again. "So your playboy activities ruined everything? Please take that as a lesson and become a better person." I very much enjoyed the fruits of my actions though. "Is it even safe for this Eris woman to be out there rushing quests? They can get pretty dangerous." I can't comment on that, since I never went into one, but...

This Eris I'm talking about. "She should be fine, she's a Sword-Ranked fighter after all, and she's going together with Nina. A friend of ours who is of the same rank." In essence they're pretty tough.

Nanahoshi seems genuinely impressed. "That's a scary team, but still... I don't mind lending you money for a house, nor do I mind lending you money for tuition in this school." She shrugs. "It's not like I'm paying mine anyways, since I'm classified as a special student." I don't know what that means, but for some super crazy reason I have a feeling it's something special!

I'm blushing now. "Nah, it's fine... I don't want to leech off you, even if I do appreciate the offer." Just how rich is this girl anyways? She's throwing around money like it's nothing... Well, maybe if she has stayed here for while...

Nanahoshi's body is frozen in time, and she definitely looks a few years younger than me, so for now I'm hypothesizing that she has appeared in this world like... three years ago. I haven't interacted with her since we were kids, so it's not like I can tell exactly of course.

The Banana snarks. "And you're fine leeching off your girlfriend instead?" Yes...? Not really, but I do feel more comfortable with it, I guess. "Besides it's not like I'm giving you free money, you will pay me back every last coin one way or another." I don't think I have the capability to do that.

I pout. "Sorry Nanahoshi, but I'm not exactly looking forward to be consumed by a loan shark from the stars. I still have no reliable way of making money after all." And everyone knows that making debts you can't pay in isekai land leads to the worst bad endings imaginable.

Besides, I already owe Nanahoshi way too much, I don't want to keep increasing that debt even more. Subaru Natsuki only has one life after all, he can't give away any more, or he will be driven insane. Let's forget I technically died once.

She sighs. "It's not like I'm asking for money in return." Oh? I don't have Yu-Gi-Oh cards. "I think your Gate's affinity would be useful on my project, so I want your help." Wouldn't that mean working together with Rudeus? That seems impossible.

I raise an eyebrow. "Just how rare is a a Yin affinity anyways?" Thankfully her experiments indeed confirmed that I have mana, so I won't be dying out of stupid reasons anytime soon. Though we still don't know if I'm part of the gods system.

She thinks for a while, before responding. "Decently rare, specially since people with working Gates are already rare in the first place. That's not to say I couldn't find one of course, but I might as well give this opportunity to an Earthling." Oh, preferential treatment!?

Still, now I'm curious about some stuff. "Wait, can only people with Gate's use magic? Am I stuck with... shadow magic forever?" Nanahoshi said my affinity is related both to debuffs and space-time manipulation, which is obviously awesome.

She chuckles a little. "Become a student here and find out." Oi! Would they even be okay with a complete novice like me...? I have a feeling the people who enter here already have years of magic training.

I could be wrong of course, but since I haven't seen any kids running around yet, this place gives the feeling of a college more than anything else. I already embarrassed myself in one school, no need to repeat that in another world too. Besides, I do remember Nina saying it would take years to finish education here...

Considering all that... "I... need some time to think about it, but thanks for the offer Nanahoshi." Hopefully she doesn't get offended by that, I just want to ask Eris if she thinks this is a good idea or not.

Nanahoshi nods. "It's fine, don't worry. I just wanted to have some power over you." E-excuse me!? "I-I mean...! I felt like lending a helping hand, that's all. Don't look too deeply into it, playboy!" You're the one who said something weird, don't blame me...

I smile. "You're a pretty good person Nanahoshi, be it in this world or in Earth... That's something that is always nice to see." She doesn't respond, and so we continue our walk in silence.

The school is Honestly way too big, but at the same time... It's not that interesting. Really, it's about what you would expect from a school, classes, a cafeteria, dorms... Though apparently I can't go even close to the female ones, they have a massive problem with perverts.

Really, the most interesting place about this academy is the library, and I can't even read... Something Nanahoshi told me she plans to fix eventually, and also another proof that I'm not part of the gods system. Apparently when they appear here they both know the commong languages and how to read and write... Now that's a true cheat.

As we walk, pretty much no one interrupts us, even if they do send curious glances at Nanahoshi... That doesn't last forever however, as we are eventually greeted by three people.

First, a blond woman waves us to us. I very carefully don't look at her in the eyes. "Oh my, to think Silent Seven Stars would be out of her room! May I ask what are you up to?" Her tone is weird, I think she's trying to be nice, but it comes off more as condescending.

I don't care much about her, I'm more interested on her followers, more specifically Fitz, who is now blushing as she looks at me. Who would have guessed that I would just run onto her again?

Oh, and the blonde's follower isn't that interesting, just a pretty handsome looking guy. Thankfully I can actually look this one in the eye... One of these days I'll have a dude soulmate and regret all my actions.

Nanahoshi holds back a sigh. "I'm showing a friend of mine the academy." She starts to walk forward, clearly not interested in this conversation. "Now if you excuse me Lady Ariel..." Lady huh? She must be important then.

I wanna bet on princess status, because she has that generic JRPG princess aura, but I don't want to assume. For now I'll just imitate whatever Nanahoshi does, and that includes ignoring this girl and walking away. Sorry Fitz, you're super cute, but I'm taken!

Ariel pouts, standing in Nanahoshi's way. "Miss Silent, what's with the rush...?" This girl definitely doesn't know how to take no for a answer. My thoughts of her being a princess are rising. "You so rarely come out of your room... Would you mind having a talk with me?" If nothing else, this Ariel girl has a pretty smile.

And she's also of higher standing than Fitz and the other guy, since they have stayed silent and behind her until now. It honestly reminds me of a bodyguard... I could be wrong though, it's just that this girl has a very charming aura.

Even with a mask, everyone can tell Nanahoshi is probably frowning. "What do you need? I'm busy, so make it quick." I would call this Banana rude, but she did kind of interrupt us in the middle of our walk for no reason.

Ariel sounds strangely frustrated. "I just wanted to chat with you a bit Miss Silent, you are so mysterious after all! The whole academy is curious about you..." She blushes. "And you are also so very pretty, I can't help, but be mesmerized." Her face is hidden by a mask though...!

I can hear the guy muttering in the background. "Again...?" What do you mean again!? Is this girl a yuri shark or something!? Well... It's not like I'm gonna judge, but this ocean is only big enough for one playboy! And the fish known as Nanahoshi is my food!

Nanahoshi crosses her arms. "Thanks for the compliment, but as I said, I'm showing my friend the school's facilities." The 'so fuck off' isn't said, but it's very much heard. I would feel bad for this girl, if she wasn't failing to see Mount Tai here.

Ariel's lips tremble, I have a feeling she's getting frustrated with constant rejection. "Well, at least introduce me to this friend. I'm guessing he's is going to be attending this school...?" Please take a hint and leave already...

I decide to throw her a bone and wave at her way. "Hey..." Is it wrong that I want to do my introduction...? I'm definitely doing my introduction! I haven't done that in a while! That's right, with my index finger up, it's time for my iconic entrance.

I'm grinning, even though I look like an idiot. "My name is Subaru Natsuki! I too, am made of many stars...!" I end my pose. "And I don't know if I will be joining the academy, we will see." Thankfully no one laughs at my introduction.

Ariel giggles. Someone did laugh at my introduction! "I see, well my name is Ariel Anemoi Asura. I am the second princess of the Asura Kingdom, third in line to the throne." As expected, she's a big deal. It doesn't surprise me at all, since she's beautiful.

Princesses are supposed to be hot in stories like these, and she's probably the most beautiful woman I have seen so far, objectively speaking. Though of course, in my eyes Eris is better in every way.

She motions to the elf girl. "And this is my bodyguard, Silent Fitz... Funnily enough we have two silent people here." She then motions to the guy. "And this is my second bodyguard, Luke Notos Greyrat." Greyrat!? I'm beginning to think it's just a common name...

Well, he does look very similar to Rudeus, even if he's more handsome, but... The Cuckmire isn't even from this world, so their resemblance is just a coincidence. To be honest this guy is so handsome that I wanna get mad at him, but... 

I'm dating Eris, there's no way I would ever get jealous of another guy, specially just because of his looks. So while I'd normally scream about how I want all ikeman to die, for now I genuinely don't feel any hostility towards him.

Fitz waves at me. "Hello again Subaru... It's nice to meet you under better circumstances." I certainly agree on that. "Even if the bad company you keep around hasn't changed." What's with the sudden shade toward the neighborhood friendly gobbo!?

Luke smiles. "Oh? You guys knew each other...?" That smile is now sorely aimed at me. "I would say it's a pleasure to meet you, but it seems I have to remind you that the princess' eyes are up there buddy." Oh no.

I'm immediately hit with the biggest blush of my entire life. This guy noticed I was looking just under Ariel's eyes and so he made the logical conclusion that I was staring at her tits... for this entire conversation. I want to die.

I stutter out my response, trying and failing to fight back against this embarrassment. "I-I...! Sorry, I wasn't...! I wasn't looking at anywhere inappropriate, I swear!" This is what I get for trying to not mindrape woman!? Give me a break...!

Though maybe I am being too paranoid. Even if I do have many soulmates, it's not like every woman in the planet is gonna be one... But then again, I have run into so many ones at this point, with two being goddes of all things.

Ariel chuckles, surprisingly enough she isn't embarrassed at all. "It's okay, I understand I can have this type of effect on people." In fact she seems straight prideful. I guess it's good to have pride of your appearance though... Even if I still think you should throw shame at perverts like me... Not that I was looking at her tits of course!

Nanahoshi whispers on my ear suddenly. "It's fine to look at her. This woman either has no soulmate, or the entire population is her soulmate." What's that supposed to mean!? No, I get it, this girl is a shark, just like I thought.

I smile and do as Nanahoshi says. "Still, I would like to apologize Lady Ariel..." Now looking at her eyes, they really are a beautiful shade of blue... Oh no. I just felt a shock run through my body...! I'm strangling Ugly Gobbo!

She immediately blushes, because she's definitely my soulmate! And that isn't all, a soft gasp leaves her mouth. "You..." Her face is full of shock, I have no idea what's going through her mind. "Would you l-like t-to..." And now she's stuttering.

It's now Luke's turn to be shocked. "Lady Ariel...? Are you alright?" There seems to be genuine worry on his voice, as if he never expected to her to act this way. It's understandable, as a princess Ariel naturally is confident, but now she's stuttering like a shy school girl.

The princess tries recomposing herself, and looks at her bodyguard "Y-yes, I'm alright Luke." She then looks back at me. "Um... your name is Subaru Natsuki, right?" I nod, did she already forget my amazing introduction? "M-my name is Ariel Anemo- Oh, I already told you that...!" Yeah, she's definitely acting like a shy high school girl.

Now both Luke and Fitz look like they have seen the birth of a star, it's like they are seeing the most insane and wonderous even ever take place. Seriously what's with their reactions!?

Nonetheless the princess continues. "T-tell me Lord S-Subaru would... would like to ha-have some tea with me...?" Honestly... maybe I misread her completely, I might even need to apologize. I thought she was a playboy... or playgirl in this case, but...

She's now acting like a super standard Nintendo princess! Do I need to call Mario!? It's honestly rather cute, and normally I would take her proposal without hesitation, but... I'm a taken man. Eris is my girlfriend, and Ariel is probably acting like this due to soulmate stuff, it would be mean to give her false hopes.

I shake my head. "Sorry, but like Silent Seven Stars said, we are busy at the current moment. Maybe another time..." I can feel the approving looks Ugl- Nanahoshi is sending my way. Though I don't really get why she doesn't like Ariel.

I could understand it when I thought Ariel was a shark of course, but she's clearly not, so how doesn't Nanahoshi see that? Well, poor Ariel being a princess might have some crazy rumours spread around about her, and maybe Nanahoshi believed those rumors, who knows?

Ariel doesn't take my rejection. "Well...! I could show you t-this place a-around too you know?" She nods to herself. "I-I certainly e-explore much more than Miss Silent..." Suddenly her eyes widen. "N-not that I'm insulting your f-friend! We could all go together!" This girl is desperately grasping at straws huh?

Sadly, I'll have to deny her again. "Sorry, but I would rather spend this time with Nanahoshi alone..." I have nothing against this poor pure princess, in fact I'm doing this for her. This soulmate stuff will only get worse the closer we stay together.

To my surprise Ariel actually grabs my hand. "C-come on! I insist...!" I can feel the same frustration she had towards Nanahoshi, but it's now solely directed at me. "You'll have fun I promise..." Ah, now I really do feel like scum.

But I won't cheat on Eris, and besides... she's a princess, and getting involved with whatever the politics of this place are sounds like a mess. At first I start by dating a woman, next thing you know I want to put her ass in the throne. Nope, not going there.

Which is why, even if what I'm about to do is rude, I must still do it. "Sorry Lady Ariel, I'm flattered and all..." I pull back my arm, freeing myself. "But I'm spoken for." Now hopefully she will stop her advances.

Luke glares at me. "Hey, don't go assuming that-!" But he gets cut off by a dead sounding Ariel.

"It's fine, let's just..." There's tears in her eyes. "Let's just go!" And she turns around, running away while her bodygurds chase after her. I'm really sorry of course, but this was the best.

Nanahoshi looks to the ceiling. "Soulmates are scary." I agree, but why do I have a feeling you and I are talking about different things...?

And why do I have a feeling this won't be the last I see of Ariel?
