Dahlia (Patreon)

Hey, all! So, I hope to have a full bio soon, but here we are with the new addition to the Fighter Verse cast: Dahlia! She's meant to be another rival for Rosalyn to have so that she has someone other than Iris to lock horns with every once in a while. I also made her a fox-based fera (in my verse, a "fera" is basically a human with animal features), both to add some variety and to tie it back to the mainline series in a way.

Dahlia is a martial artist, but she's also a treasure hunter by trade. She and Rosalyn first met during the latter's adventuring days when they were both after the same treasure. It was a tough battle, but Dahlia just barely claimed the win... not that it mattered, since the treasure they sought triggered a trap. The two escaped and became partners for a while, but Dahlia's more amoral methods started rubbing Rosalyn the wrong way. This came to an end during a hunt for a statue called the Purple Dragon, when Dahlia drugged Rosalyn and stole her equipment to try and claim the statue for herself. Enraged at the betrayal, Rosalyn caught up to Dahlia and challenged her to a fight. This time, Rosalyn won and knocked her out, claiming the statue. Dahlia was fuming afterwards.

Dahlia is extremely swift, agile, and an expert martial artist: skill-wise, she is in the same league as Rosalyn and Iris, able to fight either one of them on equal terms. Her fighting style is an amalgamation of several Northern Chinese Martial Arts, Chuojiao and Baguzhang in particular, and focuses on dissolving around attacks, redirecting the attack while closing the distance, or using her foe’s own power against them. Neither a pure grappler nor a pure striker, she uses a wide variety of techniques, including swift and acrobatic kicks, jumps, open-palm strikes, joint-locks, throws, spiral movements, and evasive maneuvers. In addition to hand-to-hand combat, Dahlia is also proficient with weapons, leaning most towards the hook sword and the staff. She also knows how to use her ki, which she can use to release bursts of energy and augment her physical strikes by coating her hands and feet in ki, though she’s not as proficient with it as the likes of Rosalyn or Iris. Dahlia can also manifest her ki as cold/icy energy, giving her ki attacks a potentially chilling effect. Aside from her martial prowess, her fox-fera physiology grants her enhanced senses, such as far greater hearing than a human (which somewhat makes up for how bad she is at sensing ki) and increased sensitivity to magnetic fields (like a compass).
