Marzipan is a great building material for small edible displays (like a nativity scene) but isn't great to actually eat. It's kind of like edible wax.

The brach (sp?) sounds like the King Cake at Mardi Gras time here in the US. Here, it's a tiny plastic baby that's baked into the cake, and whoever gets it is supposed to have luck and prosperity. I guess surviving a potential choking death on a small plastic item would be termed lucky....

It's called barmbrack, often shortened to brack. Tbh, a ring seems like a better thing to find inside the cake instead of a tiny plastic baby. 😅
