NEXT ASSIGNMENT for JULY 1ST: Read Ch. 101-217

Bo, Aloha, and I have read the first 100 Chapters of long-running pirate manga One Piece. And today, we're going to talk about it, Book Club-style! Come aboard and bring along all your hopes and dreams as we talk about this series. Bo and I have consumed most of OP before, but Aloha is mostly going in blind.

Come read along with us! We're live now and will be doing the next arc (Alabasta, up through Ch. 217) in a fortnight! Wow! Future meetings are Patron-exclusive, but this one is free to everyone! Hop on board!

--------

Aloha bought 90 volumes of One Piece and now we're gonna read it all. Bo and I are going to read it with him... and you're invited!

The book club will hold bi-weekly meetings with our first meeting being on June 10th. We'll be reading up through One Piece chapter 100, which is all of the East Blue saga. Then we'll come back together and talk about our thoughts on a livestream! The first livestream is free!

Additional livestreams will be exclusive to Patrons on the $5 tier or higher. Once we finish reading through One Piece (in five million years), $15 tier patrons get to decide the next series we read for the Book Club.

Are you interested, but don't know where you can read One Piece? Well, you can read it officially on Viz's website with a Viz subscription, which I believe is just a $2 or $3/mo subscription fee. Honestly a pretty good deal considering how much manga they have on there. Be sure to buy a subscription, not the individual digital volumes. Those are much more expensive.

You could also go to your local library, which almost certainly has a few copies in their manga section if they're modernized at all.

Or... in the spirit of the series... you could... pirate it.

Goodness me!

I would never advocate for piracy in a written space where it could be used against me in a court of law, so let me warn you about it! You might not know how to pirate things if you're, say, 16 and grew up in that brief window of time where the internet was good and Netflix had everything you wanted on it before streaming services cut up in the entertainment industry like feudal lords protecting their fiefdoms.

In that case, be sure NOT to simply google "Read One Piece online" or "Read One Piece online free". If you do that, there will almost certainly be multiple links to piracy websites within the first three pages of results! Oh no!

And if you did do that, then you'd definitely want to have AdBlock and Ublock Origin installed on your browser. Both of which are completely free and you should honestly have installed regardless so you don't have to deal with ads anymore.

Remember, we'll be reading up through the first 100 chapters, which is the first 12 volumes. This is known as the East Blue saga. Basically, it's everything before they get to the Grand Line. We'll be discussing the reading with everyone in the book club live on stream. That could include you! Come on down!

And I just reread the first 96 volumes.

As someone who recently ordered all of one piece, and is currently reading it, this is fun

Just a heads up, but the subscription needs to be through the Shonen Jump site/app. While both owned by Viz, the SJ subscription is $3 and gives access to their more popular lineup like OPM, MHA, DBZ, and of course, One Piece. Just to save others from the brief confusion I had when researching this avenue myself~

Wait so how is this gonna work? How are we gonna meet up? Like I understand the livestream but how will we communicate because chat might be too fast but didn't it say meeting before the stream? Or am I just missing or misread something.
