Merry Christmas!

Here's my unfiltered, 2am on Christmas Morning thoughts on all the Rankin-Bass stop motion Christmas Specials! (And movies that aren't Christmas-themed. And many movies that aren't Rankin-Bass! What is this marathon?)

As per usual this is off-the-cuff and explicit. Also... spoilers? Does anyone care about Rankin-Bass movie spoilers? We all know Rudolph guides the sleigh, right?

I actually missed one or two Rankin-Bass holiday specials including a Halloween movie call Mad, Mad Monsters which actually kind of bums me out. It was old enough that when they made it it's possible they still gave a damn about trying! :D

In this episode of Jello the Sleep Deprived Human. We talk Christmas, lot Christmas and not Christmas. Why not Christmas? Because he can do whatever he wants, even if he'd rather be sleeping peacefully.

I quite liked the RB Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Claus (Coming to Town and Year Without), Peter Cottontail and the sequels that were done by Rankin Bass and not by other companies (Shiny New Year and Christmas In July though not as much) for more riffing value than anything. also Frosty Returns...I'm surprised you liked it that much. I do too.

I have not seen Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. Those stop motion movies just always looked janky and weird to me so I always avoided them.

Hobbit was amazing. Even if you don't like Ranken Bass it's fantastic.

I'll join in and add the three-breasted Total Recall vulture. *stares*

This is my first time even bothering with the patreon panhandle, but I wanted to tell you that if you made a video or audio product where you abridged one of these movies with your on-the-nose interpretation of how they come across, I could see it being wildly popular. I would make it popular....as I could. "so this is basicly" but under another moniker or something.

The Dom once did a youtube review of it, which always makes me laugh.

I found the Rankin Bass movie timeline thing interesting! I do timelines and graphs about stuff too. ☺

Walu-rudolph's name is Scratcher, and he is TERRIFYING. I only saw a picture, but if I had watched that movie as a kid, that f***er would've made an appearance in every one of my nightmares.
