Hello again, everyone! Here's what I got done this week:

Run From Me:

  • Implemented all customizer sprites for the fingernails and toenails
  • Fixed an issue in which the nail grid buttons weren't toggling the right items
  • Implemented the shiny and wet customizer sprites
  • Applied skin color to gameplay
  • Created sprites for gameplay toenails: natural, oval, french tips, mountain peak, and stiletto
  • Applied nail shape and color to gameplay
  • Applied transparency to gameplay
  • Made the outfit load when returning to the main menu from gameplay
  • Made a soft save system that keeps unsaved changes to the giantess's appearance between scenes and even game sessions

All of the hard work that I've put into the customizer for the last year or so... it's finally paying off! IT'S SO SATISFYING!!!

You wanna make a lady made of melting chocolate?

YOU CAN MAKE A LADY MADE OF MELTING CHOCOLATE!!!

One thing to note is that the changes to the nail shape isn't very noticeable yet. I intend to add (yet another) menu to the customizer that shows the feet as they'll appear in gameplay.

Speaking of which...

It's finally happening!! Not to toot my own horn or anything, but... THIS IS SO COOOOOL!!!

It wasn't easy, though. First, I had to figure out how to get the customizer data into the gameplay scene. Then, I had to try (many times) to get the nail sprites for gameplay onto a sprite sheet, which was surprisingly complicated. Lastly...

Transparency. I spent pretty much my entire day today getting this to work, and I knew from the very beginning that this was going to give me issues. I had the same problems in the customizer: the sprites blended when they overlapped, and that looks ugly.

But here's the thing: the feet have hitboxes and detection zones. I can't just move them to the side and do the same viewport trickery that I used on the customizer. Or at least, if I could, it would make things even more complicated.

Fortunately, after much searching (I even attempted to use ChatGPT to help, which... almost worked) I found a shader here that miraculously did exactly what I wanted it to do with just like... two lines of code! I freaking love shaders! I just wish I understood them more. :/

I thought about applying the shader to the customizer -- and I still might -- but that would require going through every single sprite in there and applying the shader to them. I'm frightened by how much that could potentially break. ._.

In any case, I'm very happy I got transparency out of the way! An the nails, too, for that matter. Out of every possible customization, those two were my biggest hurdles. Everything else should fall into place no problem, provided there aren't any curveballs.

Anyhoo, I'm gonna go eat some Taco Bell. And maybe some chocolate... I'll see you guys again next week!
