Put this shell up to your ear. If you listen closely enough, you'll hear the sounds of Friday! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Added a ka-ching sound for a successful "Girl Power" purchase in the Upgrade Lab
  • Added a bubbling sound for a successful "Grape Science" purchase in the Upgrade Lab
  • Added a buzzing sound for a failed purchase in the Upgrade Lab
  • Added a gas release sound effect for the Gas Leak upgrade
  • Added music for the Upgrade Lab
  • Replaced all settings menu text with TMPro (a better text component for Unity)
  • Increased care package from 3,000 to 5,000 wine

Ladies and gentlemen, strap in. This is gonna be a long one.

First and foremost: the Upgrade Lab finally has sounds! That also includes music -- yes, the same music that was placed as a tie in that one poll. I was very close to just adding the ambiance, but I realized that compared to the high-energy music of the rest of the game, it just sounded kinda... dead. The music fit the tone more, I feel.

Next up, the settings menu! Ooooh boy, this thing STILL isn't done giving me problems! In a new scene, I had some UI issues, blah blah blah... long story short, I had to replace all of the text in the settings menu with TMPro (Text Mesh Pro), a free addon for Unity that basically splashes holy water in the face of the default text component, which was, for some unknown reason, extremely blurry in one scene and only one scene SPECIFICALLY IN THE SETTINGS MENU! The replacement process was extremely tedious, too, so now you guys have to read this to balance the suffering! >:(

Buuut to make up for the suffering, here's an extra 2,000 wine in your care package. Don't spend it all in one place! Or do. You know, whatever.

Lastly and most excitingly, this marks the day that Grape Escape has all sounds, art, and gameplay features fully added and functional, the only exceptions being a handful of things to be added/changed for the full release.

I'll say that again.

The only thing left to do in Grape Escape is to prepare it for its full release.

The light at the end of the tunnel, everyone. We finally made it.

Grape Escape will make its public debut next Friday.

Oh yeah, I also added a new upgrade or something. I dunno, I need to take a break...

I'll see you guys again next Friday with the public release of Grape Escape, assuming nothing goes wrong. Please for the love of all things grape-related, nothing go wrong! I'm gonna eat some Taco Bell to calm my nerves.
