Hey everyone! We're back with another update. Lets start with the most exciting part, final vocals!

Last week we finally replaced the scratch dialogue with the final vocals for chapter 1, The Goat Escape.  Ash is now making the final storyboards with their performances in mind so that our animators can move onto cinematics!

Can't wait to show you more boards as they come out (as long as they're not spoilers of course!)

In the category of animation lets look at some dialogue animations for Aristotle! Starting with the concepts and ending with the final results

Phew! Quite a few there! Hopefully I didn't miss any or double post. Kickstarter has a bad habit of breaking my gifs sometimes too so fingers crossed it posts ok for you all!

Now Lets get back to Barnaby! The chapter we're currently working on, here are some thumbnails for the scene leading up to the chase sequence!

Missing scene fully animated here!

Barnaby's chapter is coming out very fun! You can even play some hide and seek with him

We're also looking into adding potential additional enemies to this level

Some concept art and colour keys!

Lets listen to some lovely soundtracks by Adam next!

Where am I?...

The party has officially started!

Barnaby sentences you to DEATH

Barnaby's Parlour

Now we have some lovely posters for Dutch's hotel by Pepe! Original layouts by Jovi

Keeping in theme with Dutch we also have some concepts from his ride!

Here are some concepts for Fantoccio's next song! A rhythm heaven inspired mini game and duet between Billie and Oscar

Along with a small cutscene sneak peak from his level, he won't be naked in the game but his poncho is added in engine!

Then we have something I really love,  Michael animated a bunch of props for Aristotle's campsite.  A solution that not only minimised our required animations for Aristotle, thus saving us time, but also gives a magical flair as all his chores are being done via magic!

Next up we have some Prologue changes!

We are adjusting the prologue after some feedback, here is what we are changing and why

Oscar is now introduced at the start during the cutscene. With the removal of co-op it makes it easier to write his character in and utilize him earlier on.

Darker themes! Our game has much dark themes and will most likely be teen rated. However the darker themes are a slow burn with the first 3 chapters (including the Prologue) being less intense compared to the final chapters in the game.  Originally we wanted the darker themes to be more of a surprise as the player continues forward in this cute little goat game, however, I now think its best to set tone early on for two reasons.

 1.  If the player was expecting something light hearted and silly then they will learn early on that this game is not for them and can refund or return it before the steam 2 hour limit is over. I don't want anyone to get invested and then become frustrated when it gets darker

2. There is a misconception due to the games art style that it is for younger kids. This will hopefully smash any misconceptions immediately and will perhaps serve to intrigue people to keep playing until the more serious stuff pops up.

Billie no longer jumps onto the bed and throws the fake Billie body, this is to avoid making an additional rig so this saves time for animation which could be else spent on something more important. The opening gag has been replaced with Billie hiding behind the door.

We also find the prologue changes will help serve Billies character. She is no longer looking for a troll "just because it be cool" but to help save a villager that has gone missing in the enchanted forest, showcasing her desire to be a hero. However, Billies motives for saving the villager are still selfish, still yearning for adventure and admiration from her peers rather than actual concern for the villager or appreciation for the danger she is facing.

Now before we go...

Take some cheese for your travels!

Till next time!

I think spider ghosts for Barnaby's chapter would look rlly goofy with those yellow eyes, since they have 8 eyes. Also if they are those shadow/ghosts, their legs don't need to follow the physics of regular arachnids, meaning their legs could be wobbly and make for some fun animation/shadow figures? Just thought of that when the other enemies were showed...

I have an idea! How about some little Ghost/Barnaby clones of Billie?
