Read part 1 here, the history of Billie's model and design

Originally I was still unsure about the new body idea, it can be hard to let go of something you've grown accustomed to. So I experimented inside of ZBrush with Billie's best friend, Lou (character belongs to Ashlee Ortiz and was a winner of our goat design contest!)

I compared the bodies (new on top, old on bottom) and asked for opinions on social media, the verdict was clear, the new body gave a stronger silhouette, had better proportions and could give better poses, it was also a lot closer to Ashlees designs and concepts

I redlined the Lou base to get an idea on what Billies design might be like with the new body

I quickly tested the new body in the engine, but found myself unhappy with the actual results

The oversized feet were cute, but the style was different from our other characters, and goats usually have smaller feet, I also found the change to be quite dramatic, I wanted to make sure that everyone felt satisfied with the new body changes, including fans of her current model

I worked closely with Ashlee to ensure that the design matched her work, she redlined each Billie, trying to find ways we could improve the design

We figured the main issues were, the feet were too big still, and the body too straight, we needed to add some curves back into her body

We were starting to get a shape we were happy with! Just a few more tweaks...

and here is the final result, 1 being the newest, and 2 being the oldest, we opted against changing the face and head. We tested a new head but it completely changed Billies style and design. The next step is to make a low poly body and to add the full texture (the one above is a placeholder for testing)

Which Billie do you prefer, are you happy with the new changes to her design?

I really like Billie's new design and that in general the designs are trending towards Ashlee's chunkier style.

yes! im glad to hear that, it was important to me that we didn't change the model too drastically that it would upset long term fans, but lean more into ashlees 2D concepts and style

Honestly, the tweaks were a good idea. Curvy and round shapes look cute and friendly, and that's exactly the vibe I got from this game. I was a bit unsure at first, but after the adjustments, I kinda like the tweaked version of the new design more than the original.

I am looking at the 2 models at the bottom and I gotta say there are many aspects I like of both of them, but overall I think 1 is for sure the better model to use.
