When is a new public demo coming?
We get this question a lot and it is understandable. We don’t have a definite release date for when we’re going to update the public demo, but our plan is to put one out this year, after we’ve added a certain level of polish to the overhaul.
If you compare the two versions right now, content-wise, the overhaul is kind of lagging behind. Meaning, we haven’t put everything back in yet, that was present in the old version. This is because we’re making the new levels and we have to add the CGs back in at their new “homes”.
Once everything is at a point where we feel like the overhaul represents what we’re going for with Kincaid going forward, we’ll put together a new public demo.
Plans for the next dev cycle
Since it fell off in the last build, this build we want to focus more on visual and audio polish for the game. The flapper stations are programmed but they need art and some tweaking, there are some player animations that are still unfinished placeholders, we’d like to make new art for the water and add waterfalls, and a laundry list of other smaller and medium-sized details.
Some other things we want to work on are tweaks to the newer movement options. Ziplines don’t feel all that great yet and we wanna see how we can improve them. Later on those ziplines will also double as rails to grind on, so we’d like to connect these two abilities together. Swimming is going to get touched on as well.
Depending on how it goes, we’ll further build out the world with new levels and add stuff to the ones we have, tie the quests back in, etc.
Taking a week off
Now that we have a plan for the next build, we wanted to take a bit of a breather before we jump back in fresh and rested!
