Hi Space Adventurer! ^w^

Welcome to this latest installment of Kincaid!

I won't keep you away from jumping right in longer than necessary, just a few words on how to access the new content:

New Stuff: Head to the village and talk to the mason in the lower left corner. He will give you a quest and you'll be able to access the new area with his elevator. Have fun exploring!

Here's what's new:

  • Sabertooth Tiger as a new enemy type has been added.
  • Stone Mason quest has been added (reward has not been fully implemented yet).
  • Old City ruins are has been added (a total of 21 new rooms).
  • Mini Slime Mini Quest has been added!

Note: Full sound treatment for the tiger will come with a later update as the effects have not been finalized by the time this build has been completed. We will deliver a build with the full sound treatment with the next quality of life update.

And now slip into your boots, put on your gloves and head down into the old city ruins!

  • Memory leaks caused by particle systems
  • Places where you could get stuck when moving between rooms in the mines
  • Making out sound loop would not play in the gallery for the kobold
  • Slime would continue his jump as if nothing happened if you break out of his grapple
  • Unfair wolf hitboxes
  • Wolf flame hitboxes would stick around when they should disappear
  • The last hit on an enemy would not give energy


2021.02 Hotfix Changelog

Added

  • A short cutscene to help people find the missing friend
  • A sign at the start of the game to guide the player towards the new content

Changed

  • 18+ warning now reflects key rebindings
  • Mason dialogue now shifts over to the elevator to better demonstrate how to access the new area
  • Elevators now have a consistent way they are operated (interact button, instead of Up, like doors)
  • Kincaid now remarks on the mini slime running away when she drops it, to make it more clear to the player what is going on
  • When the queen is riding on her favorite dildo, the pillow where it usually lays on, is now empty

Fixed

  • One of the particle systems did not work
  • Kincaid is able to roll through hazards - now hazards ignore i-frames again
  • Releasing the jump button after using a bouncing platform would cancel the jump
  • Opening/Closing temple doors positioned the sound loop in the wrong spot, making them inaudible
  • Respawn manager did not work properly - downed enemies respawned too early
  • A bug where Kincaid would just slide back and forth when standing on a jumpthru platform and touching another one above it (mainly one spot in the kobold village)
  • 'Naughty Villagers' gallery entry now unlocks with older save files where the player already finished the quest and has talked to the queen
  • Fixed some areas where the player was able to dash/doublejump out of the level bounds and fall into oblivion
  • A bug where Kincaid would be able to push blocks when she was stunned
  • Game crash when getting grappled the exact same frame she hits an enemy
  • Returning to the main menu while the mini slime rides on your head would crash the game
  • Visual bug after defeating the wolf - The fader was on the wrong layer
  • Destroying a wall critter with the blaster would crash the game if you left the room and returned immediately
  • Defeated kobolds that don't respawn would leave orphaned hitboxes behind
  • Tiger grabbing you out of a dash puts the act-object deep into the ground
  • Pressing the Interact button near a sign and a kobold NPC would trigger both interactions, making them overlap
  • Tiger freaking out near ladders if you touched them
  • A small visual issue with KO'ed tiger animation
  • Kobold hunter got stuck on slopes when attacked and pushed upwards
  • Kincaid looking up/down now respects screen-locking combat arenas
  • A bunch of not so nice word repetitions in the CG for the tiger
  • Some more minor word smithing in Interactions and dialogues

Bug reports: [MINOR SPOILERS] -When jumping up to Kobold village, Kincaid got stuck on the corner of a ledge and froze in a fall frame, moving resolved this one and I couldn't recreate it. -Escort slime falling down off of the screen (jabbed by the spike ladder) causes him to go back to the starting room. -Hanging onto a ladder at around tiger head height causes tiger to act... "strangely", shall we say. -The text box has developed a pixel wide gap on the right hand side, where the edge joins the top and bottom, at least in the new zones. -Not sure if incomplete animation, but "ready to pounce, stationary tiger" literally does not move a single pixel, poor thing is going to asphyxiate. -Getting stunned (in this case by a Kobold catapult shot) on top of a concealed tiger caused the tiger struggle mini-game to trigger. -Getting pounced by a tiger mid-air/near a ledge can cause you to drop several stories depending on how high the ledge is, instant drop. Unable to recreate. -Bit nit-picky but Kobolds who plunge into head-spike high water should probably have some kind of reaction other than to carry on as though oxygen was a mere convenience, probably doesn't fit with the tone of the game though. -Ocassionally the tigers swipe attack can just be punched through mid-combo, seems inconsistent, no reliable way to trigger. Additional notes: -Awwww, even enemies can look out for eachother. -Peeping Kincaid is wholesome, heartwarming and hilarious. -That sassy slime better watch it's mouth if it knows what's good for it. >.>

Anybody else unable to get the game over CG to play? I hope it isn't just me and my garbage laptop. Still enjoying the new area and Sabretooth tiger enemy. Have to apply some strategy instead of just stunning them with a hit like the Kobold enemies.

Finish the Flying School quest and talk to the queen! This one is going to get build out more and made more obvious later because it is tied to the story. So for now it is a bit obscure x3

just played trough the new area, and i have to say, nice difficulty spike right there, because there are a LOT more enemies in a tiny area packed, i like it :). but besides that, i have a question: do you always get grabbed by the tiger, even when you roll, or is this a bug? because im really sure i rolled, and nevertheless i got grabbed.

Happy to hear the new area is fun! :D We just wanted to try how it feels to throw a bit more at her~ Yeah we thought the tiger is so big and beefy so we thought it would be cool if he could just tackle you even out of a roll, but don't do damage to balance that out. Not sure how we feel about it, we might change it, but for now we wanted to try it :)

A hint :3 Leave the village and follow the path down to where you find a kobold near a wooden platform with a ladder. The kobold's friend can be found within the next 2 screens including this one!

So apparently the tiger has scooby doo abilities, he can make the bush move along the ground while still crouched and hidden.

In the far west of the kobold village there is a mason/sculptor, who will give you a quest. Afterwards you take the little crane elevator down to the ruins.

i had fun with this build, I am wondering about the jump tho, like the jump height seems a little random. I noticed it when trying to get the dash in the water area. like how pressed jump affected my jump height which made the platforming harder than expected. p.s. the tiger game over's my favorite so far

The jump height is consistent, but you can control your jump height by how long you hold down the jump key. That's very common in platformers, but it takes a bit to get used to it. ^^

is the 6th stone for the masonry not added yet? also I'm having a bit of trouble with the slime mini quest since I have no idea how to get him out lol, Really enjoy the new area and the tiger, cant wait for future updates! cant wait for the audio for the tiger ;3

So he just tells me to come back later when I try to get a quest from him. Says "Come back when there's more to see. Not sure What I am supposed to do here.
