I think I mentioned this in a comment earlier in the season, but I'm one of the ones who watched (part of) Angel before watching Buffy. I actually watched it in the most ridiculous order because I first caught part of Season 4 in syndication after school on TNT. Season 5 hadn't finished airing yet, so when Season 4 finished, the next episode I saw was the pilot, and it was only *then* that I realized that the show I was watching was a spinoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Season 1 of Buffy was also playing in syndication at the time (on FX in the mornings while I was getting ready for school), so I started taping Buffy in the morning so that I could watch it and whatever Angel episode was playing that day back-to-back when I got home. As a result of this completely insane watch order, I'm pretty sure I liked Angel while watching Buffy more than I would have if I hadn't already gotten to know him somewhat from his own show. I thought Spike was a funny one-off villain in "In the Dark" and was pleasantly surprised when he showed up in Buffy Season 2. I remember that when Kate told Angel to go to hell in "Lonely Hearts" and Angel said "Been there... done that," I thought something like, "Oh, that's interesting, I guess all vampires have been to hell at some point." (That was not, in fact, what that line meant, as I would learn at the end of Buffy Season 2 haha.) I didn't have any strong feelings about Cordy, though she grew on me a lot as I watched both shows and saw how much she had grown and changed.

I just came to say I cant wait! Even though the same universe at times it feels like its own. Angel as a show is fun and dark.
