I've never actually know the ship to have a name, it's always just been Giles/Ethan.

It most certainly is! (a ship). :D So many possibilities for this pairing - flashbacks to youthful indiscretions, 'what if' scenarios, redemption arcs (my personal favourite), etc, etc.
