Hello one and all!


For the past two months I've been going hard to finally get everything where I want it to be for the start of the new year. Last year had its hurdles (I'll get into that into one of my other updates after this one) but this year I'm aiming to go for a smoother ride. Getting everything back on track and sharing with you some project I've been working on in my "spare" time.


UPDATE #1 - DUNGEONDRAFT 1.0 with 900 new assets


It's finally here! Dungeondraft 1.0

This update makes it so you can finally turn off all the original assets at long last, with integrated lighting tools, shadow paths, patterns, objects and a whole range of updates to the last tags! In my next post, I'll showcase a whole range of everything that is included, you'll see my forest test (which I'll also get into later for animation) and something else I've been wanting to improve for quite some time - roads, tracks and footpaths. Also lots of maps, clothing rubble, carpets, books, baths, modular wooden and stone tables, and much more!



I also did a little test with futuristic assets but I'm honestly not sure if it's a good idea to go deeper into as of yet. Unless I want to take my time to explore it, the basic idea was to build a toolkit that allows you to build your own spaceships (starting with small ones like these) but it was rather complex and I would really need to school myself to go deeper into it. I'll add all the map tests in the attachments of this post!



UPDATE #2 - ANIMATION & TOKENS


This is something that over the past year I've spent a lot of time trying to get back into (training other artists, etc.) but until now it has been quite a challenge to find the right match. With Tin on the team, we're not only bringing back animation but the goal is to take it to the next level by building a reskinable rig, that allows us to take every model we design and pull it into every animation pose. 



Right now we've been setting up the first models, doing a lot of tests for both our characters and our environments and I'm hoping that from next month on I'll be able to share both new tokens, animated tokens and assets to get us back on track. 



with the long term in mind, I'm hoping we can finally pull all of this together in our own little piece of software that people can use to build their own animated levels with integrated shadows as well, but that is an update for another time! (hopefully)


UPDATE #3 - CRAFTING & TUTORIALS


Last year a lot of my spare time went into clean up or trying to train new artists who could help out with the art. This year I'd like to start the year off right and find some time for some "passion" projects. (most of this already is that really but a little added bonus if you will)


Crafting full-scale models like I've played around with last year (also a sort of continuation of a project I spent a lot of weekends on last year (the pop-up project)), is something I'd love to keep playing around with. I'm doing this with my buddy Yusuf and all of these will be free to download for anyone interested in trying them out. I'd also like to do some YouTube tutorials on these and get back to making some more tutorials on tools like Dungeondraft or others like it.



This particular model features magnets to keep every level in place, with doors and little widows popping out. I'm currently finishing up a YouTube tutorial on it, so you can see that coming out soon!



SOCIAL


I've been working like a madman to get all of this set up and now my hope is that for the coming year, I'll be able to have more breathing room to bring you updates and spend more time on Discord again. I want to update together with creators who share work on the channel there and possibly build some maps together with custom assets for people who are active there. I also plan on sharing on my diary channel there again. It's really hard to do so when getting things set in motion, but with this new team, I'm hoping to start the new year right.

omg everything looks so good. Quick Question, when i do the patreon link, am I only needing to get things that are marked [updated] (assuming that i've obsessively clicked all of the things ever previously)?

Yes! That's how I try to keep it simple for any updates. I change this up every update of course so you'll be able to look at the version number of your files (in the name) and see if you have the up to date version. I also always try to move updated stuff to the front of the list so you don't have to go through it all if you see that the first files in the list arz up to date
